Although Katie Boulter has not fared quite as well on the US hard courts as she did on grass this season, she leads Diane Parry in almost every stat on paper, except for break points saved.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Parry has bounced around ITF and tour level tournaments throughout the year, and her best successes on the hard courts have come at the ITF level. Apart from a more confident run in the clay court season, she has struggled since then to make much of an impact at all on the hard courts this year.

Boulter won her maiden title in Nottingham and reached the third round of Wimbledon and reached the second round of Montreal after coming through qualifying but has yet to advance past the first round at Flushing Meadows.

Parry will display an artistic flair to her tennis and is one of a small group of WTA players to use a single-handed backhand, but at times has fallen foul of not necessarily focusing on the right shot. She has improved, but will be facing a no-nonsense forceful game, but there are still areas that need to be improved. However, her success in getting into her opponents return games over the season make her the favourite to come through this match, especially having beaten Parry quite convincingly in Indian Wells earlier this season.

Prediction: Boulter in straight sets.
