NEW YORK, USA – Harriet Dart stunned Daria Kasatkina to advance at the US Open for the first time, where she will face Dalma Galfi.

Harriet Dart scored one of the wins of her career as she downed Granby champion Daria Kasatkina, to reach the second round of the US Open for the first time. Displaying her characteristic fight, she came back from an immediate break in a set where nether player seemed to want to hold serve.
In a set that had 10 breaks (seven in a row), the tie-break seemed to be going the same way as the momentum switched frm Dart running away with a 3-0 lead to finally breaking Kasatkina to take the lead.
The second set looked like Kasatkina, fresh from a great lead in to the US Open, had regained her balance as she romped through to level the match. Taking the initiative in the third set, Dart came back at her again, before breaking in the penultimate game, and closing out a great victory.

The pair are very closely matched coming into this with Galfi just a little stronger when it comes to getting herself out of trouble saving break points.
Playing Styles & Prediction
Galfi had a solid junior career, and has mixed things up this year with ITF tournaments and coming through qualifying into main draws petty consistently, although she did skip the entire North American swing.
She breezed through her first round in comparison to Dart who had to battle, but for both of them this is new territory, with neither having made it into the second round of the US Open.
Marginally ahead in the rankings, arguably Dart has had more momentum this year with her strong performance earlier in the year at Indian Wells, and after such a big scalp in the first round, the Brit’s confidence should be high, but she can expect another fight on her hands.
