Playing styles and prediction

Ruud has continued to show his consistency this season and has made several breakthroughs like reaching a first Masters 1000 final and getting to a first grand slam final. Now the Norwegian will look to overcome a slight blip in form to make further progress at the US Open.

Edmund will need to return well in this match and try to disrupt the Norwegian’s rhythm as this is the ultimate test for Edmund’s consistency and power, with the Brit needing to show a range of depth and power in order to come through this match. Ruud’s defensive variety and range of attacking threat should prove too much here. The positive for Edmund will be that it will show how far away he is from returning back to the top of the game.
