Emma Raducanu v Stefanie Voegele | H2H: First Meeting
Britain’s Emma Raducanu has been putting in the hard yards after her run to the second week of Wimbledon and has learned a lot from the pressure that was heaped on her shoulders. Her draw might just have opened up as her planned opening opponent Australian Open runner-up Jennifer Brady withdrew with a knee injury. Lucky loser Stefanie Voegele takes her place.
The stats fetch up far better for Raducanu who arrives with some form having been the runner-up in the WTA Chicago 125 event. She also came through some tough qualifying rounds to book her spot in the main draw.
Could Raducanu be in the cusp of another solid run? She may well be if she can get off to a quick start. Both players have an aggressive game and for Voegele this is a free hit, so even though she is slightly higher ranked than Raducanu, she perhaps has less pressure on her than the Brit.
Raducanu has a very winnable match on her hands, and perhaps without a US crowd on her back, she can be free to notch up her first overseas Slam win.
