Anton Matusevich started the 2023 season entering the first UK Pro League event. In the first round the 21 year old was against 24 year old Joshua Goodger. Matusevich and Goodger stayed close in the first set, before the younger Brit secured the break of serve needed to claim the set. The second set was much the same as the first, with neither player wanting to lose. Eventually, Matusevich secured the break of serve and took the win to claim his first round robin win of the week 6-4, 6-4.
On Tuesday Matusevich was against Sean Hodkin. The 24 year old stayed with the younger Brit in the first set, before the 21 year old managed to secure the break of serve to take the lead. The second set was much closer, as both players fought hard. The set looked to be heading to a tiebreak, before Matusevich managed to get the break and claim another win 6-4, 7-5.
The quarter-final saw the Brit against Aziz Kijametovic. The Bosnian was no match for Matusevich who dominated the match from the outset. The first set saw the 21-year old break at will, as Kijametovic struggled to hold serve. The Brit soon had the first set in the bag. The second set saw the Brit still dominate, and although the Bosnian managed to hold serve more than in the first set, the Brit sailed through to the semi-final 6-1, 6-2.
In the semi-final Matusevich was against 16 year old Henry Searle. The junior Brit was outplayed in the first set, as the 21 year old dominated. Searle struggled to hold serve as the older Brit sailed through the first set. The second was a little closer as Searle started to find his way in the match. Ultimately, though, it was the more experienced Brit that broke serve and moved into the final 6-1, 6-3.
The final saw Matusevich against Aidan McHugh. This proved to be the toughest match so far for the 21 year old. McHugh stayed with Matusevich in the first set and managed to force a tiebreak. In the breaker the 22 year old still stayed with Matusevich until the 21 year old managed to get the minibreak and stay ahead to claim the set. The second set was a little easier for Matusevich, as he broker McHugh to claim the first Pro League title of the season 7-6(3), 6-3.
