SHEFFIELD, SOUTH YORKSHIRE, UK – Brandon Murphy clinched the week two title of the pro league 2022 season. Estonian Elena MalΓ΅gina claimed the title on the women side.

Week two of the 2022 UK Pro League was held in Sheffield. Young Brit Brandon Murphy entered the event for the first time. The 21 year old kicked off his campaign on Sunday taking on Sahej Maker. Murphy dominated the first set from the outset. The 21 year old strolled through the first set and took the lead. In the second set Maker put up more of a fight, however Murphy secured the break of serve needed to claim his first win 6-0, 6-3.
Tuesday saw Murphy take to the court in his second round robin match, this time against Harry Wendelken. The 21 year old was outclassed by Wendleken in the first set, but did manage to get a game on the board. The second set was a little closer, but Murphy was broken to give Wendelken the victory 6-1, 6-3.
The quarter-final on Wednesday, saw Murphy take on a Billy Harris. Harris, who won week six last season managed to break the serve of Murphy and took the first set. The 21 year old re-grouped in the second set though, and managed to break the serve of Harris and level up the match. The final set was a match tie break set. This was a very tight affair, but eventually Murphy secured the mini break. Murphy moved into the semi-final 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.
In the semi-final Murphy took on Ewan Moore. The first set was fairly close, with Moore staying with the 21 year old in the first set. Murphy managed to get the break of serve and take the lead. The second set was much easier for Murphy who sailed through the second set to book a spot in the final 6-4, 6-1.
The final saw Murphy against Luke Johnson. In the first set both players held their nerve and serve at the start. Murphy eventually managed to secure a break of serve and took the lead. The second set was much closer. Neither player wanted to give an inch. A tiebreak ensued. Murphy secured the mini break and didn’t look back. On his debut in the Pro League event Murphy claimed the week two title 6-4, 7-6(4).
In the women’s draw Estonian Elena Malygina defeated Dane Sofia Samavati in the final 6-1, 6-4.
Other Results
Anna Brogan was defeated by Joanna Garland 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 and finished fourth.
Harry Wendelken defeated Ewan Moore 6-2, 6-2 to finish third.
Nadia Rawson was defeated by Arina Vasilescu 7-5, 7-5 and finished sixth.
Sean Hodkin defeated David Quale 6-4, 6-4 to finish fifth.
Billy Harris defeated Patrick Foley 6-3, 6-3 to finish seventh.
The Pro League returns Sunday 20th February 2022 in Welwyn Garden City.
