SOUTHAMPTON, UK – Emma Wilson and Louis Bowden claimed the titles in week 4. Bowden won on debut, Wilson third final resulted in the win.

Emma Wilson kicked off her week on Tuesday, with a match against Given Roach. The 26 year old dominated the first set against the 17 year old, as Roach struggled to hold serve. No matter what Roach tried, Wilson was equal to it and the older Brit soon had the set in the bag. The second set was a little closer as Roach found her game a bit more. However, eventually, Wilson broke and sealed her first win of the week 6-2, 6-3.
On Wednesday Wilson was against Kate Mansfield. The 18 year old American found the Brit too strong in the first set, as Wilson once again dominated and took the lead. The second set saw a switch around, as Mansfield found range and dominated the 26 year old to level up the match. The final set was a close match tiebreak, but Wilson managed to edge through and take the win 6-2, 1-6, 10-6.
The quarter-final on Thursday saw Wilson against Jaquelyn Ogunwale. The first set was fairly close, as neither player could get the break early. However, Wilson managed to secure the break towards the end of the set and take the lead. The second set saw the 26 year old dominate and move into the semi-final 6-4, 6-2.
Friday’s semi-final saw Wilson against Jizel Fernandes. The 22 year old stayed close to the 26 year old in the first set, before Wilson managed to secure the break of serve and take the lead. The second set was a little easier for Wilson as the older Brit broke serve and took the win 6-4, 6-3.
The final was a rematch between Wilson and Mansfield. The first set was very very close, as neither player could break the deadlock. Eventually, a tiebreak ensued. In the breaker Wilson edged through and took the lead. The second set saw Wilson manage to get the break of serve against the American and claim the title in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-4.
Men’s draw
Louis Bowden made his debut at the UK Pro League and in the first round the 18 year old was against Matt Doe. The 21 year old stayed with Bowden in the first set, and it looked like a tiebreak was on the cards. However, the younger Brit managed to break serve right at the end and took the lead. This spurred on the youngster and the second set was dominated by Bowden who didn’t lose a game and moved on in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.
On Wednesday Bowden was against 19 year old Freddie Ridout. The younger Brit dominated from the outset. The first set saw Bowden lose only one game. The second set Ridout managed to hold serve a couple of times, but Bowden still eased through and into the next match 6-1, 6-2.
In Thursday quarter-final Bowden was against 17 year old Finn Lester. Bowden outplayed Lester from the start. Lester was unable to hold serve in the first set, as Bowden strolled through the set. The second set was again dominated by Bowden, as the 18 year old lost only one game to move through to the semi-final 6-0, 6-1.
The semi-final saw Bowden against James MacKinlay. The 18 year old continued where he left off the previous round, dominating MacKinlay to take the lead. The second set was a little closer as MacKinlay managed to hold serve a little more. Ultimately, Bowden was able to break serve and take the win 6-2, 6-3.
In the final Bowden was against Brandon Murphy. The 18 year old played well and broke the serve of Murphy to take the lead. The second set saw Murphy re-group and dominate to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak was really just all one way traffic, as Bowden strolled through and claimed the title on his debut week 6-4, 2-6, 10-3.
