At first look, Watson’s stuttering start to the year has harmed her stats, lagging behind the lower ranked German in almost every stat. She is slightly closer ti the German when it comes to saving breakpoints and finally edges her over total points won.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Watson had started to to find some form in what had been a tough season when it got to the grass, reaching the Birmingham semi-final and lost two real heartbreaker matches so a win here will be a task.

Watson’s ability to defend and play aggressively, she will need to sharpen up her returning as the German serves well and excels on hard courts.

The Brit usually can pull out her best when it comes to represent her country but this will be a tough ask.

Watson in three sets.
