The Canadian dominates most of the statistics which is hardly surprising given how little tennis Murray has played. The key area for the Brit is the second serve return and how much success he can have when returning the second serve.

Playing styles and prediction

The Canadian heads into the Olympics having recorded one of his best grand slam results, reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. Auger-Aliassime’s big serve and ability to finish points off quickly has been one of the keys to his rapid rise up the ATP World Tour rankings.

Murray’s return will be key and his use of variety will be key to mixing up the paces of the rallies. Should the surface be as slow as some are predicting then this match could suit the Brit well. It’s a tough match to call because you never know what Andy Murray is going to turn up but it should be a fascinating contest.

Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in three sets.
