Defending Champion: Fabio Fognini

Things are about to get interesting as the Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal return to the tour for the first time since the Australian Open. Both had injury issues, both are fixed upon that overall Slam title, and the next battle ground will be on the terre battue.

Monte Carlo feels like the beginning of the clay court run in to Roland Garros after the two single-licence outings last week.

Fabio Fognini will try and defend his biggest career title to date, and the sole British interest in the singles is Dan Evans – on his weakest surface.
