ROME, ITALY – After reaching his second Masters 1000 final in Madrid, Jack Draper is aiming for more clay court success in Rome where he begins against Luciano Darderi.

After reaching his second Masters 1000 in Madrid, and his first on clay, Jack Draper is looking to continue his clay court success when he takes on Luciano Darderi in his Rome opener.

Draper is aiming to continue his aggressive serving when he takes on the consistency and solidity of Darderi.

 

 

Playing Styles and Prediction

After a rough start to the season, Darderi has found some confidence on clay having secured the Marrakech title to begin his campaign on the red dirt. The Italian has now managed to find some consistency and will look to back up his run to the third round from last year in front of his home fans.

Draper be aggressive on serve, using the forehand to make Darderi move around the court. Meanwhile Darderi will look to extend the rallies using the backhand to pin the British number one behind the baseline. This will be a tight contest with very little being expected to separate the two players but Draper should find a way to win here as he looks to avoid the same fate that happened after he won the Indian Wells title when he lost in the first round in Miami.

Prediction: Draper in three sets.
