World number one Iga Swiatek continued her title defence in style as she mauled Anastasia Potapova in 40 minutes, only losing ten point. The Pole is into the quarter-finals yet again at Roland Garros and has looked a dominant force since her testing match against Naomi Osaka, where she saved match points. The defending champion is seemingly the overwhelming favourite to claim a third consecutive title in Paris but Swiatek will be aware that the level at the top of the women’s game is at a high level and no player can be underestimated at this stage.
Next for Swiatek is former finalist and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova who overcame a hand injury to defeat Olga Danilovic. The Czech Republican has been in good form throughout the tournament as she aims to continue her recent confidence ahead of her Wimbledon title defence next month. However Vondrousova won’t be thinking too far ahead just yet as she has the game and variety to cause more trouble on clay as she will look for the biggest clay court win of her career.
Swiatek will aim to use that top spin forehand to her advantage as she will test Vondrousova’s movement, using depth to force tactical errors from the Czech Republican. Meanwhile Vondrousova will look to dictate play on serve, being aggressive and rushing Swiatek’s baseline play while coming into the net to finish points off easily. Another test awaits the world number one but Swiatek’s title defence should continue into the semi-finals.
Prediction: Swiatek in straight sets.

It was a statement win from Carlos Alcaraz as he comfortably defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the quarter-finals. Despite injury doubts at the start of the tournament, the Spaniard has gradually built confidence and form as he has a case to be the favourite to win a first Roland Garros title. The world number three will now look to continue his incredible confidence from both the baseline and the net as he aims for a second Roland Garros semi-finals.
Next for Alcaraz is former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas after the Greek suffered another scare in this tournament to defeat Matteo Arnaldi in four sets. There have been many doubts raised over whether Tsitsipas has the consistency to win a Grand Slam and those doubts have been justified throughout the tournament so far with the ninth seed losing sets. However when he is on form, there are not too many players who can stop Tsitsipas on clay and now the Greek will hope to send out a massive statement to the rest of the field by beating a player he has never beaten before.
Alcaraz will continue to use depth and variety to catch Tsitsipas off-guard as the Spaniard will look to rush Tsitsipas’ backhand. Meanwhile Tsitsipas will need to start the match fast as the Greek looks to be aggressive and dictate play most of the rallies on the forehand. This will be a decent test for Alcaraz but the Spaniard is more consistent and stable in his overall game and should edge into the last four.
Prediction: Alcaraz in four sets.

After experiencing an inconsistent period of form, Coco Gauff has elevated her level and leaped into form at Roland Garros as she is into the quarter-finals with relative ease. The American has yet to drop a set in Paris as the former finalist continues her incredible Grand Slam form of late. However barely anyone is speaking about Gauff as a potential title contender which will only motivate the 20 year-old heading into the latter stages.
A stern test awaits Gauff in the last eight in the form of Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian has produced some world-class tennis in the last two rounds to reach the quarter-finals as she continues to regain her confidence. However as proven in her last few Grand Slam finals, Jabeur isn’t good at coping with pressure and improvement in that area will be necessary if the Tunisian wants to achieve her Grand Slam dream over the next six weeks.
Gauff will aim to be aggressive on serve using the backhand to test Jabeur’s movement and defensive skills on the run. Jabeur will use her slice to neutralize the aggression of Gauff as the Tunisian will use the backhand to open up space on the court in order to hit efficient winners from the baseline. This will be a battle between two different styles but Gauff’s recent form in Paris should have her at a slight advantage heading into this match.
Prediction: Gauff in three sets.
Jannik Sinner [2] v Grigor Dimitrov [10] H2H & Match Fundamentals

World number two Jannik Sinner survived a big scare against Corentin Moutet as he had a nightmare first 20 minutes before running away with things in four sets. The Australian Open champion still has questions to answer over his fitness and stamina but the Italian is still producing world-class performances as he has his eyes set on a second Grand Slam title and the world number one ranking.
Next for Sinner is Grigor Dimitrov who is into his first ever Roland Garros quarter-final. The Bulgarian won a bizarre contest against Hubert Hurkacz to achieve the landmark feat in Paris as the Bulgarian continues to expand on one of the best last 12 months of his career. The tenth seed has nothing to lose and will relish the prospect of causing another upset and achieve another landmark milestone in his career.
Sinner will need to use the forehand to be aggressive and force Dimitrov behind the baseline as the Italian looks to avoid engaging in longer rallies. Meanwhile Dimitrov will be aggressive on the backhand side as he will look to be consistent on serve. This will be a good test to see where Sinner’s game really is with the Italian expected to prevail in a long and tough battle.
Prediction: Sinner in four sets.
