PARIS, FRANCE – Cameron Norrie aims to bounce back from his disappointing semi-final defeat in Lyon as he takes on Benoit Paire in his Roland Garros opener.

Norrie will look to be consistent on serve considering Paire has improved his efficiency on return this season.

 

 

Playing styles and prediction

Since exiting the world’s top 100, Paire has started to work harder on his game and has recovered some of the momentum that was lost last year by going deep in challenger events. Now the charismatic Frenchman will look to use his streaky tennis to cause some shocks at his home Grand Slam and continue to gain momentum ahead of the grass court season.

Norrie will look to extend the rallies and be patient as he looks to test Paire’s rally tolerance with his return. Meanwhile Paire will look to serve consistently well and construct effective points from the baseline using his powerful forehand. Paire will use the crowd to his advantage and test Norrie’s mental fortitude as he will look to use the Parisian atmosphere to elevate his level. Despite this Norrie should have enough overall consistency and variety in his game to force errors from Paire to edge into the second round.

Prediction: Norrie in four sets.
