Tennis | Rankings Report | Mirra Andreeva makes top ten debut after landmark Dubai title, Tauson and Draper enjoy ranking rises

  • Mirra Andreeva is into the world’s top ten for the first time in her career after claiming her maiden WTA 1000 title in Dubai
  • Clara Tauson climbed up 23 places after securing her first WTA 1000 final
  • Meanwhile Jack Draper is up to a career high of 12 in the world after reaching the Doha final.
DUBAI, UAE – Mirra Andreeva is into the world’s top ten for the first time after claiming her maiden WTA 1000 title in Dubai while Clara Tauson and Jack Draper also enjoyed significant ranking rises.

ATP Rankings and Brits Top 10

The main headline on the ATP tour was Jack Draper’s run to the Doha final as the British number one continued his great start to the season. In his first tournament since the Australian Open, Draper defeated the likes of Matteo Berrettini and Jiri Lehecka on his way to the final, before losing to Andrey Rublev. As a result Draper will now be up to a new career high ranking of 12 in the world as he sets his sights on the world’s top ten in the coming months.

As for the other Brits, there was a 15 place drop down the rankings for Cameron Norrie as he is now at 74 in the world while Johannus Monday continues to make strides up the rankings and is at 284 in the world after climbing up 16 places.

In other significant ranking moves, Berrettini climbed up the rankings by five places as he returned to the world’s top 30 after defeating Novak Djokovic in Doha. There was a 19 place rise for Alexandre Muller after the Frenchman reached the final in Rio De Janeiro before losing to defending champion Sebastian Baez. The other main stories in Brazil were Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Jaime Faria. Ugo Carabelli is up to 69 in the world after climbing up 22 places while Faria is now into the world’s top 100 after climbing up 20 places to 87 in the world.

Meanwhile in significant ranking drops, last year’s Rio De Janeiro finalist Mariano Navone fell down 18 places to 64 in the world. While Dusan Lajovic fell down 17 places to 100 in the world while Otto Virtanen is now outside the world’s top 100 as he fell down 19 places to 111 in the world.

WTA Rankings and Brits Top 10

The headline of this week’s rankings report is 17 year-old sensation Mirra Andreeva as she continues to prove that the future is now. It was an incredible effort from Andreeva as she defeated Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina on her way to defeating Clara Tauson in the final, claiming her first career WTA 1000 title in Dubai. As a result, Andreeva makes her top ten debut as she is showing why she is the future for the sport.

As for Tauson, the Dane didn’t have a bad week herself as she continued her fantastic start to the season. On her way to the final Tauson defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka to make her first ever WTA 1000 final of her career. This means that Tauson has climbed up 15 places in the world to 23 in the world as she is making massive waves in 2025 and has big ambitions of her own this season.

In other significant ranking moves, Jasmine Paolini fell down two places to six in the world after failing to defend her Dubai title. Meanwhile last year’s finalist Anna Kalinskaya fell down by 15 places to 34 in the world. While Eva Lys’ good run as a qualifier ensured that the Germa rose up the rankings by ten places to 77 in the world.

There wasn’t much ranking changes for British players although Emma Raducanu edged towards a place in the world’s top 50 as she climbed up six places to 55 in the world. Meanwhile British number one Katie Boulter climbed up one place to 26 in the world as she looks to make her return to the tour soon.
