Tennis | Rankings Report | Katie Boulter achieves career-high ranking after claiming San Diego title

  • Katie Boulter is up to a career-high ranking of 27 in the world after claiming the San Diego title.
  • Casper Ruud made his return to the world’s top ten after a second consecutive ATP final in Mexico.
  • Jack Draper climbed up 13 places to 37 in the world after a run to the semi-finals in Acapulco.
SAN DIEGO, USA – Katie Boulter is up to a career-high ranking of 27 in the world after claiming the biggest title of her career in San Diego.

ATP Rankings and Brits Top 10

On the men’s side this week Casper Ruud returned to the world’s top ten after reaching his second consecutive final in Mexico. After reaching the Los Cabos final the week before, Ruud reached the Acapulco final before losing to Alex De Minaur in the final. The result means that Ruud is now at nine in the world having been the world number 12 after the Australian Open.

As for De Minaur, the Australian successfully defended his title in Acapulco but drops down a place to ten in the world. The other big tournament of the week saw Ugo Humbert climb up four places in the world to 14 after claiming the Dubai title. It was an impressive run from the Frenchman who defeated Gael Monfils, Andy Murray, Hubert Hurkacz, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Bublik on his way to a second title of the season.

In other significant ranking moves Alejandro Tabilo climbed up 12 places to 39 in the world after reaching the final in Santiago. Meanwhile the player that beat Tabilo, Sebastian Baez, climbed up two places to 19 in the world as the Argentinian continues his incredible form. There was also a return to the top 20 for Bublik who reached the final in Dubai while Taylor Fritz is now out of the top ten after dropping down two places in the rankings.

As for the Brits Jack Draper climbed up 13 places in the rankings to 37 in the world after reaching the semi-finals in Acapulco. Despite a second round exit in Dubai, Murray climbed up six places to 61 in the world. While Dan Evans is out of the world’s top 40 after dropping down four places in the rankings to 44 in the world.

WTA Rankings and Brits Top 10

The main headline of the week is Katie Boulter’s extraordinary run to the San Diego title. The Brit captured the biggest title of her career with victories over Beatriz Haddad Maia, Donna Vekic and Marta Kostyuk. As a result Boulter is up to a career-high ranking of 27 in the world and will look to continue the momentum at Indian Wells and Miami.

The other big title winner this week was Yue Yuan who won the title in Austin as she defeated two fellow Chinese players on her way to the title. The 25 year-old climbed up 19 places to 49 in the world as the rise of women’s tennis continues to grow in China. Meanwhile finalist Xiyu Wang climbed up 12 places to 52 in the world as she closes in on the world’s top 50.

In other ranking news Varvara Gracheva is down 13 places to 68 in the world while Vekic and Danielle Collins both plummeted down eight places to 36 and 56 in the world. On the other side of the spectrum there were six place rises up the rankings for Anna Blinkova and Taylor Townsend who are now 45 and 77 in the world respectively.

As for the other Brits Heather Watson is 16 places worse off in the rankings as she is surviving inside the world’s top 150 at 147 in the world. While Amarni Banks climbed up 21 places to 284 in the world with Harriet Dart back inside the world’s top 90.
