Norrie aims to continue his consistency on return against an aggressive and proactive returner like Griekspoor, who has been so clinical on big points this season.

Playing styles and prediction

Griekspoor has earned some big wins this season and produced some clutch serving under pressure. However the Dutchman’s form has dipped recently as he has been unable to translate good performances into results as he will hope a change in form starts at the Olympics.

Norrie will use the forehand to accelerate the pace of the rallies with the backhand as he will continue his efficiency on return. Meanwhile, Griekspoor will aim to continue his aggressive serving and produce the type of form that nearly saw him beat eventual finalist Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros. This match could be decided by close margins and Norrie’s recent confident form gives him a chance at winning on his Olympics debut. However, Griekspoor’s result at Roland Garros puts him at slight favourite in what should be a tense match.

Prediction: Griekspoor in three sets.
