Rafael Nadal opened his Madrid campaign with a straight-sets win over an in-form Miomir Kecmanovic. The Spaniard is looking towards another potential match-up with his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter final.
David Goffin is finding some good form on clay this season. Having taken the title in Morocco last month, the Belgian has carried this momentum into the Spanish capital well by qualifying and beating Aslan Karatsev and Botic van de Zandschulp in the opening rounds.
Nadal will likely have the edge here, winning all four of their clay court meetings. However, he will be aware that Goffin knows how to beat him, with their last meeting going the way of the Belgian.
Prediction: Nadal in two sets.
Lorenzo Musetti [Q] vs Alexander Zverev [2] H2H & Match Fundamentals
Lorenzo Musetti [Q] vs Alexander Zverev [2] | H2H: First meeting |

Alexander Zverev survived a tricky opener against Marin Čilić after losing the first set. The defending champion now has to deal with the devilish Lorenzo Musetti, a young Italian who’s at his most comfortable on the clay.
Musetti has already beat Felix Auger-Aliassime and Dan Evans on the clay this year, and having come through qualifying and winning his first two matches, the Italian looks confident on the fast-paced courts here.
Zverev will need to cut out his double faults if he is to come through this one. Musetti is a player with lots of variety, so expect some drop shots and long rallies. If the youngsters can get a foot in the match early, he may well nick this one.
Prediction: Musetti in three sets.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Stefanos Tsitsipas [4] H2H & Match Fundamentals
Grigor Dimitrov vs Stefanos Tsitsipas [4] | H2H: Tsitsipas leads 3-1 |

Stefanos Tsitsipas has started the clay season with an impressive title defense in Monte-Carlo. The Greek has had a deep run here to the final in 2019, so he knows how to play well on the courts of Madrid. A comfortable win over Lucas Pouille yesterday was a good opener for him.
Grigor Dimitrov has just obliterated one of the toughest clay-courters on the tour in Diego Schwartzman, so will be full of confidence heading into this match-up. He’s started the clay season well too, with an appearance in the last four in Monte-Carlo.
These two played last week in Barcelona with Stefanos coming through in straight sets. However, the courts here in Madrid are much faster, so the Bulgarian might have a better chance of hitting through Tsitsipas. This one is likely to be tougher for the fourth seed.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in three sets.
