Playing styles and prediction

Delbonis is a player that usually thrives on the clay especially given how well the Argentinian constructs points on serve. However that hasn’t been the case this year with two first round losses in Marrakech and Barcelona as well as a loss to Alexander Zverev in Monte-Carlo. As Rome approaches, where he has a lot of points to defend, the pressure is on for Delbonis to start performing.

Evans will look to put pressure on Delbonis from the start of the match and test the Argentinian’s confidence early on. Delbonis will look to serve well and make Evans run in all areas of the court and force errors out of the Brit. Both players need to win this match and Delbonis’ clay court craft should get him through this one.

Prediction: Delbonis in three sets.
