Playing styles and prediction

Although the results haven’t been there, Bu has produced some good performances this season with his latest showing being a tight three set defeat to eventual finalist Lorenzo Musetti in Monte-Carlo. Now the world number 72 will aim to continue his rise up the tennis rankings as he targets a strong clay court season.

Fearnley will continue to dominate on serve as he will look to force errors from the Chinese player. Meanwhile Bu will use the forehand to create depth as he will test Fearnley’s rally tolerance from the baseline. This will be a tough and physical test for Fearnley but conditions should favour the Brit’s style of play in a confident period in his career.

Prediction: Fearnley in three sets.
