Jack Draper [5] def Tallon Griekspoor 6-3 6-4
Jack Draper is into the third round in Madrid after an impressive straight sets victory over the in-form Tallon Griekspoor. It was a match that displayed Draper’s qualities as an elite tennis player as he took his chances when it mattered most. Both players were efficient on serve to start with as he was aggressive and proactive on his first serve.
Meanwhile the Dutchman continued to be aggressive as he produced some clinical net play to finish off points efficiently. There was nothing to separate the two players in the opening stages but Draper elevated his level as the set went on, breaking comfortably in the sixth game for a 4-2 lead.
The world number 34 came back firing in the following game, creating break point but some big serves saved Draper as he took a 5-2 lead. Although Griekspoor showed good tactical adjustments throughout the ending of the opening set, Draper recomposed himself to take the opening set in 32 minutes.
In the second set Draper continued his clinical efficiency on return as he converted his second break point of the set to take a 2-1 lead. Although Griekspoor was impressive and consistent on serve, the Dutchman had no impact on return with Draper coasting through his service games. There was a late threat by Draper on return as he created a match point in the ninth game. However, Griekspoor produced some aggressive serving to force Draper to serve for the match.
Serve for the match Draper did as he comfortably secured his place into the third round.

Playing Styles and Prediction
It’s been a consistent season from Berrettini so far as he continues to rack up big wins having already beaten Alexander Zverev on clay. However, the Italian is yet to translate that into a big tournament result and will be hoping he can achieve that soon with the grass court season fast approaching.
Draper will use the forehand to pin Berrettini behind the baseline as he aims to attack the Italian’s second serve. Meanwhile Berrettini will aim to serve aggressively and use the forehand to put pressure on Draper’s baseline game. This should be a close contest with both players favouring the faster conditions. The edge goes to Draper given his confidence and efficiency on big points but this won’t be an easy match for the British number one.
Prediction: Draper in three sets.
