After being unable to defend her title last year, Ons Jabeur has rediscovered her winning form in Madrid as she is now on a nine match winning streak in the Spanish capital. The Tunisian was in a run of poor form with her mental and physical health struggling but Jabeur has been motivated to rediscover her form as she will aim to win a maiden Grand Slam title over the next two months. Now Jabeur will look to continue her great form in Spain and continue to show she has the mental fortitude to compete with the very best players in the world.

Next up for Jabeur is former Roland Garros semi-finalist Madison Keys with the American reaching good form herself in Madrid. The 18th seed knocked out US Open champion Coco Gauff in three sets to prove that she is a dangerous threat on the clay. However Keys’ mentality in the latter stages of big tournaments has often been questioned and that is something that the American will look to change starting in Madrid.

Jabeur will aim for a mixture of power and slice as she looks to dictate the tempo of the rallies and find angles to create space in the court to hit winners into. Meanwhile Keys will need to be aggressive on the forehand as she looks to prevent Jabeur from hitting impeccable drop shots. This should be a good contest between two rejuvenated players but Jabeur’s variety should see her through.

Prediction: Jabeur in three sets.

Despite entering Madrid with fitness doubts, Carlos Alcaraz has dominated his first two matches as he bids to defend his title in Madrid. After failing to be fit for his Barcelona title defence, Alcaraz is looking to set a huge benchmark as the player to beat over this clay court season. Now the Spaniard aims to continue his dominant form as he builds momentum towards his Roland Garros title charge.

Now a rematch of last year’s final awaits against Jan-Lennard Struff who is also in good form at the moment. The German produced an incredible to claim the Munich title as his big-hitting demolished his opponents. The title was a huge boost to Struff as he now prepares to defend final points this week and a convincing win over Ugo Humbert has certainly given the German momentum ahead of his task of being seeded for Roland Garros.

Alcaraz will aim to use spin and aggression to pin Struff behind the baseline as he looks to dictate play. Meanwhile Struff will look to be aggressive from the baseline and time his approaches to the net well as he aims to end points early. It will be a tough start for Alcaraz but the Spaniard should eventually find his rhythm and claim victory.

Prediction: Alcaraz in three sets.

Iga Swiatek’s clay court dominance continued as the Pole only dropped one game against Sara Sorribes Tormo. The Pole’s irresistible defence and aggressive attack makes for a dangerous combination as she once again looks to prove why she is the player to beat at Roland Garros. Now the world number one searches for a first Madrid title and a psychological advantage heading into Paris.

Swiatek’s clay court credentials will be put to the test against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia. The eleventh seed reached the last eight as she extended her winning streak over Maria Sakkari. The crafty yet powerful Brazilian will aim to be a dark horse to make a deep run in Paris as she aims to cause another shock on clay.

Swiatek will aim to break up the tempo of the rallies with a mixture of depth and pace. Meanwhile Haddad Maia will use the backhand to dictate play while finish points off early at the net. These two players had a thrilling match at Roland Garros last year and more of the same entertainment can be expected in Madrid. However Swiatek’s overall quality and aggressive should prove too much for Haddad Maia.

Prediction: Swiatek in straight sets.
