ALDERSHOT, UK – Mingge Xu claimed the singles title, her first ITF title. Xu & Naiktha Bains claimed the doubles title.

Mingge Xu was awarded a wildcard to the ITF event. In the first round the Brit was against qualifier Tilde Stromquist. The Swede found Xu way too strong in the first set, as the Brit dominated from the outset. Xu didn’t drop a game in the set and took the lead. The second set was a little closer, as Stromquist managed to hold serve. The Brit eventually broke through and moved into the next round 6-0, 6-3.
The second round saw Xu against the second seed Diana Marcinkevica. The Latvian, although the seed, was unable to stay with the Brit in the first set. Xu dominated and took the set. The second set was a little closer, although Marcinkevica improve her game, Xu still broke serve and moved into the next round 6-2, 6-3.
In the quarter-final the Brit was against sixth seed Miho Kuramochi. The Japanese player stayed with Xu at the start, before the Brit broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw Xu dominate again. Kuramochi was unable to stay with the wildcard, who eased through the set in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
The semi-final saw the Brit against Tessah Andrianjafitrimo. The Frenchwoman proved to be the toughest opponent to date. Xu secured the break of serve required in the first set and took the lead. The second set was much closer. Neither player could get the vital break of serve, and a tiebreak ensued. The French player edged through the breaker to level up the match. The final set saw Xu break serve again and move into the final 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3.
In the final Xu was against Haley Giavara. The American stayed close to the Brit in the first set, before Xu broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw Xu dominate Giavara. The American was unable to get anything on the serve of the Brit. Xu lifted her first ITF singles title in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
Doubles
In the doubles Xu teamed up with Naiktha Bains and the pair were the third seeds. In the first round the Brits were against Australians Lizette Cabrera & Gabriella Da Silva Fick. The seeds dominated the match from the outset. In the first set the Brits broke early to take the lead. The second set was more of the same as the seeds moved into the next round in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
The quarter-final saw the Brits against Americans Giavara & India Houghton. The first set was close, as the Americans stayed close to the seeds. Eventually, the Brits secured the break of serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same, with the Brits breaking serve again to move into the next round 6-4, 6-4.
In the semi-final the Brits were against second seeds Rina Saigo & Yukina Saigo. The Brits dominated the first set, losing only one game to take the lead. The second set was much closer as the Japanese pair stayed with the Brits and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker it was Saigo & Saigo who edged through and levelled up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak the Brits eased through to move into the final 6-1, 6-7(5), 10-4.
The final saw Xu & Bains against the fourth seeds Punnin Kovapitukted & Akiko Omae. The fourth seeds stayed close in the first set, before the Brits broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw the Brits break early, Kovapitukted & Omae were unable to break back. The Brits lifted the title 6-4, 6-3.
