Dan Little entered the event in Sheffield and was in qualifying. The 25 year old made the main draw. In the first round Little was against fellow qualifier James Davis. In the first set both players fought hard and did not give an inch. Eventually, a tiebreak ensued and it was Little who managed to get the early break to get ahead. In the second set Davis re-grouped and fought back, breaking the Little serve to level up the match. In the final set, it was Little who managed to get the vital break of serve and move into the next round 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4.
The second round saw the Brit against Marcello Serafini. The Italian stayed toe to toe with the qualifier in the first set, and a tiebreak ensued. Little dominated the breaker and soon had the lead. Serafini tried to fight back in the second set, but the Brit was too good and eased through to the next round in straight sets 7-6(2), 6-2.
In the quarter-final Little was against Jules Marie. The Frenchman managed to stay with the Brit at the start of the set. However, the qualifier managed to secure the vital break of serve and move ahead. The second set was more of the same. As Marie tried to fight back but the Brit was on form and broke serve to book a spot in the next round 6-4, 6-4.
The semi-final pitched the qualifier against Clement Chidekh. The Frenchman was overwhelmed by Little in the first set, as the Brit dominated and took the lead. Chidekh however, fought back in the second. The Frenchman dominated the second set to tie the match. The final set was a very tight affair with neither player getting the break needed to get ahead. Eventually, the match went to a tiebreak which was dominated by Little to move into the final 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(2).
In the final Little was against sixth seed and fellow Brit Charles Broom. The first set saw Broom and Little stay close, but eventually, the qualifier secured the break and had the lead.
