GLASGOW, UK – Finn Bass & Millen Hurrion claimed the men’s doubles title. The unseeded pair defeated the second seeds en route. Maia Lumsden was the top seed in women’s doubles and claimed the title.
Finn Bass & Millen Hurrion entered the ITF event in Glasgow and were unseeded. The Brits were against another unseeded pair in the first round Ewen Lumsden & Liam Hignett. The first set saw Lumsden & Hignett dominate as Bass & Hurrion were unable to hold serve. However, the second set saw Bass & Hurrion re-group in the second set and dominate their opponents to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak was close at the start, before Bass & Hurrion secured the mini break and took the win 0-6, 6-2, 10-6.
In the quarter-final Bass & Hurrion were against the second seeds Divij Sharan & Akira Santillan. The Indian/Australian pair eased through the first set, as the Brits were unable to prevent a break of serve. The second set was much closer, as Bass & Hurrion stayed with the seeds. It looked to be heading to a tiebreak, but the Brits managed to secure the break of serve and level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak was close, before Bass & Hurrion edged through and took the match 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
The semi-final saw the Brits against fourth seeds James Davis & Siim Troost. The seeds dominated the first set as the Brits struggled on serve. Davis & Troost eased through the first set. The second set was very tight, as Davis & Troost stayed with the Brits and forced a tiebreak. Bass & Hurrion edged through the breaker and levelled up the match. The final set tiebreak was even closer than before, with the Brits finally edging through to take the win 3-6, 7-6(8), 10-8.
In the final Bass & Hurrion were against another unseeded pair in George Houghton & Hamish Stewart. The first set saw Bass & Hurrion break serve to take the lead. The second set was very close with Houghton & Stewart forcing a tiebreak which they edged through to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw Bass & Hurrion edge through to take the win and the title 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-6.
Women’s Doubles
Maia Lumsden teamed up with Francisca Jorge and were the top seeds. The Brit/Portuguese were against wildcard pair Hephzibah Oluwadare & Mika Stojsavljevic. The top seeds dominated the first set and didn’t drop a game to take the lead. The second set was a little closer as Oluwadare & Stojsavljevic managed to hold serve. However, the top seeds eventually broke serve and moved into the next round 6-0, 6-3.
In the quarter-final the top seeds were against Kajsa Rinaldo Persson & Anna Siskova. The Swede/Czech pair managed to stay with Lumsden & Jorge at the start of the set. However, the top seeds managed to secure the break of serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same and it was the Brit/Portuguese that moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
The semi-final saw the top seeds against Samantha Murray Sharan & Emily Appleton. Lumsden & Jorge dominated the first set and took the lead. The second set was much closer as Murray Sharan & Appleton stayed with the top seeds and looked to be heading to a tiebreak. However, Lumsden & Jorge broke serve right at the end and moved into the final in straight sets 6-2. 7-5.
In the final the top seeds were against second seeds Freya Christie & Olivia Gadecki. The first set saw the second seeds stay with Lumsden & Jorge at the start before the top seeds broke serve and moved ahead. The second set saw the Brit/Portuguese dominate and lift the title in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
