Yuriko Miyazaki was the fourth seed in Birmingham. The first round saw the Brit against French woman Amandine Hesse. The seed broke early in the first set and Hesse was unable to get back on terms, despite playing well. The second set was a bit closer. The Brit and the French woman went toe to toe. Eventually, the seed broke serve and moved into the next round 6-3, 6-4.

In the second round the Brit was against Sofia Costoulas. The Belgian stayed close to the seed in the first set, before Miyazaki was able to break serve and take the lead. The second set was even closer. Costoulas went toe to toe and looked to be forcing a tiebreak. However, the Brit broke serve right at the end to move into the next round 6-4, 7-5.

The quarter-final saw Miyazaki against Aleksandra Krunic. The Serbian started well and managed to stay with the seed. However, the Brit broke towards the end and moved ahead. The second set was dominated by Miyazaki who barely put a foot wrong. Krunic was unable to stay with the pace and the Brit moved into the next round 6-4, 6-2.

In the semi-final Miyazaki was against fifth seed Viktoria Hruncakova. The Slovakian and the Brit stayed close at the start. Eventually, though, Hruncakova broke serve and moved into the lead. This spurred on the fifth seed, who dominated the second set. The Slovakian moved into the final in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
