An important victory for Daniil Medvedev as the world number four battled past Sebastian Korda to reach the last 16 at Indian Wells. The American has often been a struggle for Medvedev in the past but the 28 year-old produced consistent tennis to frustrate the American. The former US Open champion hasnβt produced his best tennis since his heart-breaking five set loss to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open and Medvedev will be hoping he can turn his form around in California, where he reached the final last year.
Standing in Medvedevβs way of a place in the quarter-finals is Grigor Dimitrov after the Bulgarian cruised past Adrian Mannarino. It has been a phenomenal start to the season for Dimitrov as he has found his confidence to produce consistently good results on the ATP tour. However Dimitrovβs form at Grand Slams have been disappointing and Dimitrov will be aiming to use Indian Wells as practice to work on his level of play under pressure.
Medvedev will use depth to frustrate Dimitrov as he aims to use angles to open up the court and turn defence into attack. Meanwhile Dimitrov will look to be precise on serve as he will use the forehand to be his focal point for any aggressive patterns of play, he constructs. Given the form of the two players at the moment, Dimitrov starts as slight favourite but neither player have been convincing under pressure at the big tournaments over the last year.
Prediction: Dimitrov in three sets.

After saving match points against Peyton Stearns in her opening match, Aryna Sabalenka was back to her best against Emma Raducanu as the Australian Open champion looks to prove a point at Indian Wells. Last year, Sabalenka fell just short of the title in California but this year is in a good position to go one step further than last year. Now Sabalenka will look to continue her imperious serving as she aims to add another big title to her collection.
Next for Sabalenka is one of the most improved players on the tour in the form of 22 year-old American Emma Navarro. Navarro has had seismic rise up the rankings as she is now at 23 in the world and becoming a regular feature in the worldβs biggest events. The American started the year with a title in Hobart and since then has won back-to-back matches in every tournament. Now Navarro will look to build on her consistency as she aims for one of the biggest wins of her career.
Sabalenka will aim to use her serve to dictate the points as she looks to use the forehand to overpower Navarro. Meanwhile the American looks to continue her effective returning as she aims to limit her unforced errors and extend the rallies, extracting unforced errors from Sabalenka. This could be another tough test for Sabalenka against another resilient American but the Australian Open champion should use her experience to seal victory.
Prediction: Sabalenka in three sets.

After a tough start to the season, Holger Rune seems to have found his form at the right time as the Dane has produced more consistency in his game. The 20 year-old secured a good win over Lorenzo Musetti in the last round which followed a good tournament at Acapulco. Now the world number seven will look to make another deep run at a Masters 1000 event as he aims to build momentum ahead of the clay court season.
The next obstacle for Rune to overcome is against former champion and American Taylor Fritz. After an encouraging Australian Open campaign, the world number 12 has continued to build momentum having won the Delray Beach title. Now Fritz will aim to improve his results at big event from last season with the American looking to take advantage of the faster conditions at Indian Wells.
Rune will aim to extend the rallies as he will make this match a war of attrition as he looks to outsmart Fritz. The American will dictate the tempo of the match on his forehand and serve while also approaching the net to end points more efficiently. This should be a good match with both players looking to continue their good run of form but the conditions should suit Fritzβs game slightly more than Runeβs.
Prediction: Fritz in three sets.
