Playing styles and prediction

Martin Etcheverry is mainly comfortable on clay and has built momentum in recent weeks in South America which concluded by reaching the final in Santiago. The Argentinian has a strong game which is backed up by a powerful baseline game allowing his opponents to make unforced errors. The Argentinian will hope for more wins in America ahead of the clay court swing which could be the platform for him to reach the world’s top 50.

Murray will look to produce a strong returning performance as he looks to use the angles to create space on the court for efficient winners. Meanwhile Martin Etcheverry will look to frustrate Murray with his consistent baseline game and look to extract unforced errors from the Brit, forcing him to be aggressive. This could be a messy match given Martin Etcheverry’s ability to be stubborn in slow conditions but Murray should edge through given his confidence on hard courts.

Prediction: Murray in three sets.
