GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Cameron Norrie has qualified for Geneva in a bid to build momentum towards favourite and will now face local wildcard Dominic Stricker in his opening match.

Norrie’s efficiency on return will be put to the test against the aggressive and high-risk serving of Stricker.

 

 

Playing styles and prediction

Once upon a time, Stricker was competing regularly at Grand Slams and was a consistent presence in the world’s top 100. However, the Swiss has struggled with injuries and now finds himself outside the world’s top 250 and now competes on the ITF circuit. Stricker will be hoping a home wildcard will rejuvenate his form as he aims to find his confidence again.

Norrie aims to be aggressive, applying pressure on Stricker’s deadly backhand. Meanwhile the Swiss will test the Brit’s confidence by serving aggressively and closing the points at the net. This will be an awkward first test for Norrie but as long as he can remain consistently aggressive on the backhand side then he should edge into the next round.

Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
