NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, USA – Tara Moore and Emina Bektas ended their week runner up in the ITF event. The pair took out two seeded pairs en route.

Tara Moore and Emina Bektas entered the ITF event in California and were unseeded. Their first round opponents were Jovana Jović & Conny Perrin. The Serbian/Swiss pair kept with Moore & Bektas in the first set, forcing a tiebreak. The Brit/American pair fought well in the tiebreak edging the lead and the set. In the second set Moore & Bektas obtained the break of serve needed and moved into the quarter-final 7-6(5), 6-4.

The quarter-final saw Moore & Bektas up against the third seeds Catherine Harrison & Erin Routliffe. The American/Kiwi pair found themselves a break down in the first set and couldn’t break back. In the second set, the Brit/American were in full control. Harrison & Routliffe were broken twice as Moore & Bektas dominated the set to move into the semi-final 6-4, 6-2.

In the semi-final Moore & Bektas faced the top seeds Eri Hozumi & Aldila Sutjiadi. The Japanese/Indonesian pair got off to the better start, breaking the serve of the Brit/American and taking the lead. However, Moore & Bektas re grouped and took the fight to the top seeds. Hozumi & Sutjiadi were unable to keep pace as the match was levelled up. In the ensuing match tiebreak, play went back and forth. However, it was Moore & Bektas that edged into the lead and into the final 4-6, 6-2, 12-10.

The final saw the Brit/American against the fourth seeds Vania King & Maegan Manasse. The American pairing started better and broke the serve of Moore & Bektas to take the lead. The second set saw King & Manasse in full control, as Moore & Bektas struggled to hold serve. The Americans went on to claim the title 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles Round Up

Naiktha Bains with Quinn Gleason were defeated by Vania King & Maegan Manasse in the quater-final of Newport Beach 6-3, 7-6(5).

Harry Wendleken with Karl Friberg were defeated by Gabriel Bosio & Samuel Vincent Ruggeri in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.

Alexis Canter with Lorenzo Bocchi were defeated by Filip Bergevi & Jonathan Mridha in the first round in Lucknow 6-2, 6-1.

Jonathan Binding & Harry Patten were defeated by Yuki Bhambri & Saketh Myneni in the quater-final in Lucknow 6-4, 6-3.

Anna Popescu with Chiara Scholl were defeated by Merel Hoedt & Ellessa Vanlangendonck in the quarter-final of Monastir 7-5, 6-7(1), 10-2.

Next week Brits play in Doha, Marseille, Guadalajara, St Petersburg, Biella, Egypt, India, Slovakia, Tunisia & Portugal.
