Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski entered the Rome Masters and were unseeded. The Brits have had an up and down season so far as a new partnership. In the first round the Brits were against American pair Nathaniel Lammons & Jackson Withrow. The Brits dominated the first set as the Americans struggled to find their game. The second set was much closer. It looked to be heading to a tie break, however, the Brits managed to break serve right at the end and take the match 6-2, 7-5.

The second round saw the Brits against Rohan Bopanna & Adam Pavlasek. The Indian/Czech pair had taken out the sixth seeds in the first round, so were not to be taken lightly. Salisbury & Skupski broke early in the first set and took the lead. The second set was more of the same, as the Brits once again secured the early break and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

In the quarter-final the Brits were against the fourth seeds Marcel Granollers & Horacio Zeballos. Salisbury & Skupski eased through the first set, breaking early to take the lead. The second set saw the seeds struggle, as the Brits dominated and took the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

The semi-final saw the Brits against top seeds Marcelo Arevalo-Gonzalez & Mate Pavic. The first set was very close. Salisbury & Skupski forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the seeds dominated and took the lead. The second set saw the top seeds work out the Brits and again dominate. No matter what the Brits tried the seeds were equal to it. Arevalo-Gonzalez & Pavic took the match 7-6(2), 6-1.
