Ryan Peniston teamed up with German Sebastian Fanselow for the doubles event in Portugal. In the first round the Brit/German were drawn against Nuno Borges & Francisco Cabral. The Portuguese pair fought hard to stay with Peniston & Fanselow, forcing a tiebreak in the first set. This was dominated by the Brit/German who didn’t drop a point. In the second set, again it looked to be heading to a tiebreak but Peniston & Fanselow secured the break of serve right at the end to move into the quarter-final 7-6(0), 7-5.

In the quarter-final the Brit/German were against the third seeds Alberto Barroso Campos & Benjamin Winter Lopez. The Spaniards got off to the better start and broke the serve of Peniston & Fanselow to take the lead. However, the Brit/German re-grouped in the second set to dominate and level up the match. The final set was a match tiebreak which was edged by Peniston & Fanselow to move into the semi-final 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.

The semi-final saw the Brit/German pairing against Fabian Fallert & Nicolas Morena De Alboran. The first set was very close with Peniston & Fanselow staying toe to toe with the German/American pairing, forcing a tiebreak. Fallert & Morena De Alboran took the breaker and moved into the lead. The second set saw the Brit/German drop serve and it was all that Fallert & Morena De Alboran needed to move into the final 7-6(4), 6-3.
