BEIJING, CHINA – Henry Patten & Harri Heliovaara were third seeds in China. The Brit/Fin made the final before the top seeds defeated them.

Henry Patten & Harri Heliovaara entered the ATP 500 in China. The Brit/Fin were the third seeds. In the first round they were against Roberto Carballes Baena & Pablo Carrena Busta. The seeds broke early in the first set and managed to take the lead. The second set saw both pairs fighting hard and neither getting the vital break of serve needed. Eventually, a tiebreak ensued. in the breaker it was the third seeds that edged ahead and into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(4).

The quarter-final saw the seeds against Santiago Gonzalez & Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Patten & Heliovaara secured the break of serve in the first set and took the lead. The second set was much easier for the Brit/Fin as the Mexican/French pair could not get into the match. The seeds dominated and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

In the semi-final Patten & Heliovaara were against Jamie Murray & John Peers. The first set was very close, as the Brit/Australian stayed close. Eventually, though, the seeds made the vital break of serve and took the lead. This spurred on the Brit/Fin and they dominated the second set to make the final 7-5, 6-1.

The final saw the third seeds against the top seeds Simone Bolelli & Andrea Vavassori. Patten & Heliovaara got off to the better start and broke serve to take the lead. The top seeds, however, re-grouped in the second set. The Italians broke serve early in the set and levelled up the match. In the match tiebreak the top seeds eased through and lifted the trophy 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Neal Skupski & Michael Venus were defeated by Flavio Cobolli & Lorenzo Musetti in the first round in Beijing 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-7.

Harriet Dart with Ashlyn Kruger were defeated by Tang Quinhu & Yue Yuan in the first round in Beijing 6-4, 7-6(0).

Olivia Nicholls with Tereza Mihalikova were defeated by Chan Hao-Ching & Veronika Kudermetova in the quarter-final in Beijing 7-6(5), 6-3.

Charles Broom with Mats Herman were defeated by Marcelo Demoliner & Christian Harrison in the first round in Mouilleron Le Captif 6-3, 6-3.

Marcus Willis & David Stevenson were defeated by August Holmgren & Johannes Ingildsen in the quarter-final in Mouilleron Le Captif 6-7(7), 7-6(3), 10-4.

Luke Johnson with Skander Arends were defeated by Alexander Merino & Christoph Negritu in the first round in Villena 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.

Liam Hignett & James MacKinley were defeated by Rik Muller & Niels Visker in the final in Nevers 7-6(3), 6-2.

Sarah Beth Grey & Mingge Xu defeated Emily Webley Smith & Ekaterina Ovcharenko in the final in Reims 6-3, 6-1.

Thomas Drayton with Leonardo Lemmi were defeated by David Quayle & Michael Zu in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-5, 6-2.

David Quayle with Michael Zu were defeated by James Story & Matthew Summers in the quarter-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 6-4.

James Story & Matthew Summers defeated Yurii Dzhavakian & Robert Strombachs in the final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.

Amelia Rajecki & Summer Yardley were defeated by Adrienn Nagy & Ivana Sebestova in the semi-final in Trnava 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.

Stefan Cooper & Marcus Walters were defeated by Pepljn Bastiaansen & Deney Wassermann in the first round in Grodzisk Mazowiecki 6-3, 7-5.

Tom Hands & Henry Wendelken were defeated by Jan Hrazdil & David Poljak in the final in Grodzisk Mazowiecki 7-6(4), 6-1.

Georgina Hays with Jennifer Luikham were defeated by Anja Wildgruber & Daria Yesypchuck in the first round in Monastir 6-4, 7-5.

Isabelle Lacy with Daria Frayman were defeated by Noelia Bouzo Zanotti & Claudia Hoste Ferrer in the first round in Monastir 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 11-9.

Lauryn John-Baptiste with Andre Lukosiute were defeated by Julia Adams & Sofia Elena Cabezas Dominguez in the quarter-final in Monastir 6-1, 6-4.

Tara Moore with Dalayna Hewitt were defeated by Anastasia Goncharova & Madison Tattini in the first round in Redding 6-3, 7-6(6).
