Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Paris claims doubles title in ATP Challenger Mallorca

MALLORCA, SPAIN – Joshua Paris entered the doubles in Spain with Daniel Cukierman. The Brit & Israeli pair were unseeded and lifted the trophy.

Joshua Paris entered the ATP Challenger in Mallorca with Daniel Cukierman and were unseeded. In the first round the Brit/Israeli were defeated by Abdullah Shelbayh & Daniel Rincon. The Jordanian/Spaniard were outplayed by Paris & Cukierman in the first set with a dominant performance. The second set was closer as Shelbayh & Rincon stayed close. It looked to be heading to a tiebreak but the Brit/Israeli broke just at the right time and moved into the next round 6-2, 7-5.

The quarter-final saw the Brit/Israeli against the second seeds Jonathan Eysseric & Patrik Niklas-Salminen. The seeds stayed with Paris & Cukierman in the first set, before the unseeded pair broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same, as the Brit/Israeli again managed to break serve and move into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

In the semi-final the Brit/Israeli were against the third seeds Artem Sitak & Sander Arends. The seeds struggled with the game of the Paris & Cukierman who broke quickly and took the lead. The second set was dominated by the unseeded pair as Sitak & Arends were unable get into the match. The Brit/Israeli easd into the final 6-3, 6-2.

The final saw the unseeded pair against fourth seeds N. Sriram Balaji & Ramkumar Ramanathan. The Indians stayed close to Paris & Cukierman at the start, before the Brit/Israeli managed to break serve to take the lead. The second st was more of the same as Paris & Cukierman again broke serve and lifted the title 6-4, 6-4.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Mark Whitehouse & Charles Broom were defeated by Eero Vasa & Alex Lawson in the first round in Mallorca 7-6, 7-6.

Johannus Monday with Szymon Walkow were defeated by Jonathan Eysseric & Patrik Niklas Salminen in the quarter-final in Mallorca 6-3, 6-7, 11-9.

Katie Boulter with Yulia Putintseva were defeated by Zhu Lin & Fang-Hsien Wu in the first round in the US Open 6-3, 6-3.

Lloyd Glasspool with Chan Hao-Ching were defeated by Jean-Julien Rojer & Ellen Perez in the first round in the US Open 7-6, 7-6.

Joe Salisbury with Luisa Stefani were defeated by Ben Shelton & Taylor Townsend in the first round in the US Open 6-4, 7-6.

Jamie Murray with Michael Venus were defeated by Pierre-Hugues Herbert & Nicolas Mahut in the second round in the US Open 6-4, 6-4.

Lloyd Glasspool with Harri Heliovaara were defeated by Robert Galloway & Albano Olivetti in the second round in the US Open 7-6, 7-6.

Heather Watson with Anna Danilina were defeated by Aldila Sutjiadi & Miyu Kato in the second round in the US Open 6-3, 6-1.

Jamie Murray with Bethanie Mattek-Sands were defeated by Jessica Pegula & Austin Krajicek in the second round in the US Open 7-6, 7-5.

Julian Cash & Henry Patten were defeated by Rohan Bopanna & Michael Ebden in the third round in the US Open 6-4, 6-7, 7-6.

Harry Wendelken with Johannes Ingildsen defeated Goncalo Falcao & Tiago Pereira in the final in Idanha-a-Nova 7-6, 6-2.

Sean Hodkin with Tyler Stice were defeated by Juan Carlos Aguilar & Jody Maginley in the first round in Budapest 6-2, 7-6.

Adam Jones with Vito Tonejc were defeated by Attila Boros & Botond Kisantal in the first round in Budapest 6-2, 1-6, 10-7.

Giles Hussey with Amit Vales were defeated by Juan Carlos Aguilar & Jody Maginley in the quarter-final in Budapest 6-3, 6-4.

Finn Murgett & Hamish Stewart were defeated by James Davies & Matthew Summers in the final in Budapest 7-5, 6-0.

William McLennaghan with Daniel Blazka were defeated by Ryan Seggerman & Patrik Trhac in the first round in Monastir 6-2, 6-2.

Katie Dyson with Julia Ronney were defeated by Luisa Hrda & Yasmine Wagner in the first round in Monastir 7-5, 5-7, 10-4.

Summer Yardley with Shria Atturu were defeated by Alexandra Iordache & Maria Vittoria Viviani in the quarter-final in Monastir 6-3, 6-3.

Anthony Wright with Maxwell Benson were defeated by Michal Lusovsky & Roman Postolka in the first round in Jablonec-nad-Nisou 6-3, 6-2.

Emily Webley-Smith with Sofia Shapatava were defeated by Irina Maria Bara & Ekaterine Gorgodze in the quarter-final in Prague 7-5, 6-2.

Giacomo Revelli with Sergio Callejon Hernando were defeated by Henry Barrett & Brian Battistone in the first round in Oviedo 7-6, 1-6, 10-4.

Holly Hutchinson with Tenika McGiffin were defeated by Ava Markham & Tian Fangran in the semi-final in Valladolid 6-2, 2-6, 11-9.

Sarah Beth Grey with Alexandra Bozovic defeated Ava Markham & Tian Fangran in the final in Valladolid 7-5, 6-0.

Danielle Daley with Maria Toma were defeated by Evgeniya Burdina & Saumya Vig in the first round in Baku 7-5, 6-4.

Abigail Amos with Arabella Koller were defeated by Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi & Snehal Mane in the quarter-final in Baku 6-1, 1-6, 10-8.

Next Week Brits play in Flushing Meadows, Cassis, Istanbul, France, Portugal, Tunisia, Hungary, Spain & Japan.
