WUHAN, CHINA – Oliva Nicholls & Tereza Mihalikova entered the WTA event and made the quarter-final of the event. The pair defeated the eighth seeds in the first round.

Olivia Nicholls with Tereza Mihalikova entered the WTA event and were unseeded. In the first round the Brit/Slovak pair drew the eighth seeds Sofia Kenin & Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The first set was very close, as neither pair gave an inch. The Americans fought hard and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit/Slovak eased through and into the lead. The second set saw Nicholls & Mihalikova break early and move into the next round in straight sets 7-6(3), 6-3.

In the second round the Brit/Slovak were against the all Chinese pair of Xiyu Wang & Quinhui Tang. Nicholls & Mihalikova dominated from the outset barely putting a foot wrong. The first set was quickly over with the loss of just one game. The second set saw the Brit/Slovak continue to dominate as the Chinese just could not stay with the pace. Nicholls & Mihalikova eased into the next round 6-1, 6-2.

The quarter-final saw the Brit/Slovak against Ekaterina Alexandrova & Katerina Siniakova. Nicholls & Mihalikova stayed close and were looking to force a tiebreak in the first set. Unfortunately, Alexandrova & Siniakova broke serve right at the end of the set and took the lead. The second set saw the Brit/Slovak broken again and they could not get back into the match. Alexandrova & Siniakova moved into the next round 7-5, 6-4.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Henry Patten with Harri Heliovaara were defeated by Adam Pavlasek & Jean-Julien Rojer in the first round in Shanghai 6-4, 6-2.

Neal Skupski with Michael Venus were defeated by Karen Khachanov & Andrey Rublev in the first round in Shanghai 7-5, 7-5.

Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool were defeated by Ariel Behar & Robert Galloway in the second round in Shanghai 7-6(5), 6-3.

Jamie Murray with John Peers were defeated by Adam Pavlasek & Jean-Julien Rojer in the quarter-final in Shanghai 7-6(2), 4-6, 10-5.

Joshua Paris with Ray Ho were defeated by Cristian Rodriguez & Matthew Romios in the first round in Hangzhou 7-6(4), 6-7(1), 13-11.

Billy Harris with Ugo Blanchet were defeated by Fajing Sun & Rigele Te in the semi-final in Hangzhou 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.

Max Basing with Harsh Parikh were defeated by Dmitry Popko & Alexey Zakharov in the first round in Fairfield 6-2, 6-4.

Jay Clarke with Augusto Virgilli were defeated by Yanaki Milev & Pyotr Nesterov in the semi-final in Santa Margherita di Pula 6-3, 7-6(7).

Adam Jones with Jack Vance were defeated by Martin Breysach & Antoine Ghibaudo in the first round in Louisville 7-5, 6-4.

Johannus Monday with J Mercer defeated Jody Maginley & Evan Zhu in the final in Louisville 7-5, 6-4.

Hephzibah Oluwadare with Matilde do Canto Parreira were defeated by Xenia Bandurowska & Arina Bulatova in the first round in Quinta do Lago 6-2, 6-0.
Abigail Amos & Emma Wilson were defeated by Francesca Curmi & Adrienn Nagy in the quarter-final in Quinta do Lago 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-7.
Felix Mischker with Michael Agwi were defeated by Jan Jermer & Igor Zelenay in the semi-final in Grodzisk Mazowiecki 7-6(4), 6-2.
Isabelle Lacy with Ioana Zvonaru were defeated by Arabella Koller & Dominika Podhajecka in the semi-final in Monastir 2-6, 7-6(7), 11-9.
Ewen Lumsden with Loris Pourroy defeated Chris Rodesch & William Woodall in the final in Monastir 0-0 (RET).
Thomas Drayton with Samir Hamza Reguig were defeated by Elliot Benchetrit & Johan Nikles in the first round in Pontevedra 6-3, 6-1.
Emile Hudd & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Yaroslav Demin & Iliyan Radulov in the semi-final in Pontevedra 6-3, 6-4.
