KARUIZAWA, NANGO, JAPAN – Naomi Broady and Avaka Okuno claimed the ITF doubles title. The pair were the second seeds and needed match tiebreaks in each round.

Naomi Broady teamed up with Ayako Okuno and were the second seeds. The Brit/Japanese pairing were drawn against Nagi Hanatani & Mei Yamaguchi. The Japanese pair caught the seeds by surprise and secured a break of serve. Broady & Okuno were unable to break back and the set was gone. The second seeds re-grouped in the next set fighting back to level up obtaining a break of serve themselves. In the ensuing match tie break, the seeds edged the win and moved into the quarter-final 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.

In the quarter-final the Brit/Japanese were up against another all Japanese pairing of Mai Hontama & Ayumi Miyamoto. Broady & Okuno were pushed hard in the first set, neither pairing wanting to give an inch. A tiebreak followed and it was Hontama & Ayumi that stole the lead, edging out the seeds. In the second set however, Broady & Okuno stepped it up and dominated the set to bring the match level. The ensuing match tiebreak saw the Brit/Japanese edge again to book a semi-final spot 6-7(5), 6-2, 10-7.

The semi-final saw the second seeds face the fourth seeds. Another all Japanese pairing of Kanako Morisaki & Minori Yonehara. Once again Broady & Okuno started slowly with the fourth seeds breaking serve and taking the set. The second seeds had to regroup once more and came out fighting, breaking to level the match. In the match tiebreak, the second seeds had things a little easier as they moved into the final 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.

In the final the second seeds were against Erina Hayashi & Momoko Kobori. Broady & Okuno took control of the first set, securing a break and taking the lead. Hayashi & Kobori broke in the second set and dominated play to level the match. In the match tiebreak it was the second seeds that edged the match an lifted the trophy 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.

Tara Moore with Emina Bektas were defeated by Haruna Arakawa & Miyabi Inoue in the quarter-final in Japan 6-1, 6-4.

Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski were defeated by Ivan Dodig & Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the final in Lyon 6-4, 6-3.

Luke Bambridge & Jonny O’Mara were defeated by Ivan Dodig & Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the semi-final in Lyon 6-1, 6-2.

Elliott Farmer & James Storey were defeated by Andrés Artuñedo Martínavarro & Pablo Vivero Gonzalez in the first round in Greece 6-3, 6-2.

George Davies & Patrick Foley were defeated by Paul Cayre & Valentin Guenther in the first round in Greece 6-0, 6-3.

Jack Gibbens & Joshua Rose were defeated by Peter Bothwell & Henry Craig in the first round in Greece 6-4, 7-5.

Adam Jones & Brandon Murphy were defeated by Alec Adamson & Vasil Kirkov in the quarter-final in Greece 0-0 RET.

Darryl Hale with Anshumat Srivastava were defeated by Ahmed Choudhary & Muzammil Murtaza in the first round in Uganda 6-4, 6-3.

Isaac Stoute with Emmett Ward were defeated by Nick Chappell & Alexander Cozbinov in the first round in Mexico 6-3, 6-1.

Scott Duncan with Conor Berg were defeated by Harrison Adams & Jordi Arconada in the quarter-final in Mexico 6-3, 6-2.

Finn Bass with Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi were defeated by Harrison Adams & Jordi Arconada in the semi-final in Mexico 6-3, 6-3.

Tanysha Dissanayake with Brittany Collens were defeated by Emilie Lindh & Amber Washington in the first round in Mexico 0-0 RET

Emilie Lindh with Amber Washington were defeated by Thaisa Grana Pedretti & Eduarda Piai in the semi-final in Mexico 5-1 RET.

Emily Webley-Smith with Sofia Shapatava were defeated by Yuliya Hatouka & Tereza Mihalíková in the semi-final in Turkey 6-1, 6-2.

Samantha Murray with Despina Papamichail were defeated by Yuliya Hatouka & Tereza Mihalíková in the final in Turkey 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Emily Appleton with Catherine Harrison were defeated by Paige Hourigan & Aldila Sutjiadi in the final in Singapore 6-1, 7-6(5).

Alicia Barnett & Freya Christie were defeated by Jeong Yeong Wong & Yu Min-Hwa in the first round in Korea 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Maia Lumsden with Berfu Cengiz were defeated by Hanna Chang & Emily Fanning in the first round in Korea 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.

Alicia Robinson with Akilah James were defeated by Audrey Blakely & Rushri Wijesundera in the first round of Trinidad & Tobago 6-4, 6-3.

Next week Brits play in Paris, Greece, Singapore, Ukraine, Mexico, Tunisia, Spain, Hong Kong, Portugal, Mexico.
