Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Murray wins ATP 250 Zhuhai title

ZHUHAI, CHINA – Jamie Muray & Michael Venus entered the ATP 250 event and were the second seeds. The Brit/Kiwi lifted the title.

Jamie Murray & Michael Venus were the second seeds at the ATP event in Zhuhai. In the first round the Brit/Kiwi were against Cristian Garin & Tomas Etcheverry. The Chilean/Argentine stayed close to the seeds in the first set. Eventually, Murray & Venus secured the break of serve to take the lead. The second set was more of the same, with Garin & Etcheverry trying to stay with the seeds. However, the Brit/Kiwi broke serve and took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

In the quarter-final Murray & Venus were against Zhe Li & Xin Gao. The Chinese wildcard pair stayed close with the seeds at the start of the first set, before the Brit/Kiwi broke serve to take the lead. The second set was more of the same with the Chinese staying with the seeds. However, eventually, the Brit/Kiwi broke serve and took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

The semi-final pitched the seeds against Mackenzie McDonald & Sebastian Korda. The seeds well, breaking the Americans to take the lead. However, in the second set, McDonald & Korda fought back. The Americans forced a tiebreak and eased through that to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw Murray & Venus dominate to get through to the final 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-2.

In the final the Brit/Kiwi were up against third seeds Nathanial Lammons & Jackson Withrow. Murray & Venus started well and broke Lammons & Withrow to take the first set. The second set was more of the same. Even though the Americans tried to make a fight of it, the second seeds were just too good and took the title 6-4, 6-4.

Julian Cash with Robert Galloway were defeated by Arthur Rinderknech & Nuno Borges in the quarter-final 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

Luke Johnson & Henry Patten were defeated by Romain Arneodo & Tristan-Samuel Weissborn in the first round in Saint Tropez 6-4, 6-7, 10-6.

Scott Duncan with Volodoymyr Uzhylovskyi were defeated by Tom Paris & Mae Malige in the first round in Saint Tropez 2-6, 6-4, 11-9.

Joshua Paris with Antoine Escoffier were defeated by Albano Olivetti & Dan Added in the first round in Saint Tropez 6-1, 3-6, 10-7.

Lloyd Glasspool with Harri Heliovaara were defeated by Jonathan Eysseric & Harold Mayot in the semi-final in Saint Tropez 7-6, 6-4.

Connor Thomson with Alex Rybakov were defeated by Guido Andreozzi & Hans Hach Verdugo in the first round in Columbus 7-5, 6-3.

Stefan Cooper with Kacper Zuk were defeated by Jack Vance & Tennyson Whiting in the first round in Setubal 7-6(5), 6-3.

Freya Christie with Renata Voracova were defeated by Maryna Kolb & Nadiya Kolb in the first round in Caldas da Rainha 6-3, 6-4.

Madeline Brooks & Holly Hutchinson were defeated by Yuriko Lily Miyazaki & Mariam Bolkvadze in the first round in Caldas da Rainha 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Yuriko Lily Miyazaki with Mariam Bolkvadze were defeated by Francisca Jorge & Matilde Jorge in the quarter-final in Caldas de Rainha 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Sarah Beth Grey & Eden Silva were defeated by Francisca Jorge & Matilde Jorge in the semi-final in Caldas da Rainha 6-4, 6-4.

Freddie Ridout & Roy Keegan were defeated by Yuri Dzhavakian & Koray Kirci in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 6-4.

Joe Cooper with Yanki Erei were defeated by Andrea Bacaloni & Leonardo Rossi in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.

Danielle Daley with Anouck Vrancken Peeters were defeated by Zuzanna Pawlikowska & Alyssa Reguer in the quarter-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-5, 7-5.

Adam Jones & David Quayle were defeated by Jody Maginley & Joshua Sheehy in the final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-3, 7-6(6).

Aryana Bartlett with Elena Giovanna Giessler were defeated by Aliona Falei & Kira Pavlova in the first round in Ceuta 6-1, 6-0.

Jasmine Conway with Laia Petretic were defeated by Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers & Angela Fita Boluda in the quarter-final in Ceuta 0-0 (RET).

Eliz Maloney with Arlinda Rushiti were defeated by Katarina Kozarov & Madison Sieg in the quarter-final in Ceuta 7-6(7), 3-6, 10-7.

James Davis & Ben Jones were defeated by Daniel De Jonge & Jakob Schnaitter in the semi-final in Danderyd 6-4, 7-5.
