FALUN, SWEDEN – Johannus Monday & Giles Hussey claimed the doubles title at the ITF event. The Brits were fourth seeds.

Johannus Monday & Giles Hussey teamed up for the doubles event. The Brits were seeded fourth. In the first round Monday & Hussey drew Fabian Hansch Mauritzson & Lucas Renard. The Swedes stayed with the Brits at the start of the first set. Eventually the seeds secured the break of serve needed and took the lead. Hansch Mauritzson & Renard tried to mount a fightback in the second set, however, the Brits proved too good and again broke serve. The seeds moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
The quarter-final saw the Brits against another Swedish pairing Jonathan Backman & Axel Bergdahl. The fourth seeds dominated the first set, breaking easily and took the lead. Backman & Bergdahl played better in the second set, staying with Monday & Hussey for most of the set. Eventually, the Brits broke serve though and moved into the semi-final in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
In the semi-final the Brits were against the top seeds David Poljak & Eero Vasa. The top seeds dominated Monday & Hussey in the first set, breaking easily and taking the lead. The Brits re-grouped in the second set and fought back. Monday & Hussey forced a tiebreak, which they claimed easily to tie the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak, the Brits secured the mini break and went on to claim the win 2-6, 7-6(3), 10-6.
The final saw Monday & Hussey against unseeded pair Vesa Ahti & Arslanbek Temirhanov. The Fin/Swede got the jump on the Brits and broke in the first set to take the lead. However, in the second set the seeds secured a break of serve right at the end of the set to level up the match. In the match tiebreak it was the Brits who led from the start and claimed the title 4-6, 7-5, 10-4.
Doubles Round Up
Jamie Murray with Francisco Cabral were defeated by Fabian Fallert & Oscar Otte in the first round in Sofia 6-4, 6-7(7), 10-6.
Maceo Simpson with Aleksandr Kalinin were defeated by Alberto Barroso Campos & Niklas Schell in the first round in Monastir 6-2, 6-2.
Abigail Amos with Arabella Koller were defeated by Dong Na & Jennifer Luikham in the final in Monastir 6-7(6), 6-4, 10-6.
Dan Little & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Aliaksandr Liaonenka & Alexander Zgirovsky in the semi-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-5, 5-7, 11-9.
Emile Hudd with Angel Diaz Jalil were defeated by Alexander Maggs & Jan Pucalka in the quarter-final in Alberquerque 0-0 (RET).
Alexander Maggs with Jan Pucalka defeated Demetris Azoides & Franco Ribero in the final in Alberquerque 7-5, 7-5.
Lauryn John-Baptiste with Arina Gabriela Vasilescu were defeated by Lucija Ciric Bagaric & Karine Sarkisova in the first round in Otocec 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Andra Sutherland with Milla Seqeuira were defeated by Francisca Jorge & Matilde Jorge in the quarter-final in Lisbon 6-0, 6-2.
Alisha Reayer with Camila Romero were defeated by Romina Ccuno & Maria Fernanda Herazo Gonzalez in the semi-final in Guayaquil 6-2, 6-1.
