Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Julian Cash claims ITF Loughborough title

  • Julian Cash & Lucas Gerch claimed the title in Loughborough
  • The Brit/German were fourth seeds
LOUGHBOROUGH, GREAT BRITAIN – Julian Cash teamed up with German Lucas Gerch and were seeded fourth at the ITF event. The pair went on to claim the title.

The ITF event in Loughborough attracted a good field of players. Julian Cash teamed up with Lucas Gerch and the pair were fourth seeds. In the first round Cash & Gerch drew Tom Hands & Aziz Kijametovic. The fourth seeds broke in the first set to take the lead. The second set saw Cash & Gerch break early and the seeds didn’t look back. The Brit/German pair moved into the next round 6-3, 6-4.

The quarter-final saw the fourth seeds against Oscar Weightman & Alec Beckley. Cash & Gerch broke in the first set and held on to take the lead. In the second set Weightman & Beckley regrouped. The Brit/South African pair dominated to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak it was the seeds that secured the break and stayed ahead to move into the semi-final 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.

In the semi-final Cash & Gerch faced the second seeds Mats Hermans & Jakub Paul. The Brit/German broke in the first set to take the lead. The Dutch/Swiss pair were unable to break back. In the second set the fourth seeds dominated the second seeds and booked a spot in the final 6-3, 6-2.

The final saw the fourth seeds against the all British pairing Anton Matusevich & Joshua Paris. Cash & Gerch secured a break of serve, although Matusevich & Paris tried to stay with the seeds they couldn’t break back. The second set saw Cash & Gerch step things up and break early. The fourth seeds secured the win 6-4, 6-3.

Daniel Cox & Harry Wendelken were defeated by Ben Jones & Dan Little in the first round in Loughborough 6-1, 1-6, 10-5.

Luke Johnson & Henry Patten were defeated by Anton Matusevich & Joshua Paris in the first round in Loughborough 5-7, 6-4, 10-2.

Luca Pow & Henry Searle were defeated by Jonathan Binding & Scott Duncan in the first round in Loughborough 7-6(5), 7-6(2).

James MacKinley & Sahej Maker were defeated by Mats Hermans & Jakub Paul in the first round in Loughborough 6-4, 6-0.

Paulina Jurkowska & Jessica Matthews were defeated by Danielle Daly & Lauryn John-Baptiste in the first round in Loughborough 6-2, 6-0.

Freya Christie with Jasmijn Gimbrere were defeated by Emily Appleton & Ali Collins in the first round in Loughborough 6-0, 6-1.

Anna Popescu & Nadia Rawson were defeated by Mariam Bolkvadze & Jana Fett in the first round in Loughborough 6-4, 6-3.

Aidan McHugh & Stuart Parker were defeated by Ben Jones & Dan Little in the quarter-final in Loughborough 6-3, 7-6(2).

Billy Harris & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Anton Matusevich & Joshua Paris in the quarter-final in Loughborough 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.

Jonathan Binding & Scott Duncan were defeated by Mats Hermans & Jakub Paul in the quarter-final in Loughborough 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.

Emily Appleton & Ali Collins were defeated by Anna Gabric & Arina Vasilescu in the final in Loughborough 6-4, 7-5.

Blu Baker with Federico Augstin Gomez were defeated by Dennis Novikov & Ruan Roelofse in the semi-final in Weston 6-4, 6-3.

Jodie Burrage with Despina Papamichall were defeated by Catherine Harrison & Arianne Hartono in the first round in Orlando 7-6(1), 6-4.

Alicia Barnett & Olivia Nicholls were defeated by Estelle Cascino & Jessika Ponchet in the final in Andrezieux-Boutheon 6-4, 6-1.

Emily Webley-Smith with Yuriko Lily Miyazaki were defeated by Nigina Abduralmova & Ekaterina Reyngold in the first round in Monastir 6-3, 6-4.
