BARCELONA, SPAIN – Luke Johnson with Sander Arends entered the ATP 500 event and were unseeded. The Brit/Dutch pair lifted the title, defeating fellow Brits in the final.

Luke Johnson with Sander Arends entered the ATP 500 and were unseeded. In the first round they were against fourth seeds Maximo Gonzalez & Andres Molteni. The Argentines stayed with the Brit/Dutchman at the start of the first set, before the non seeded pair broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same. The Brit/Dutchman broke serve again and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

The quarter-final saw Johnson & Arends against Ariel Behar & Joran Vliegen. The Brit/Dutchman secured the vital break of serve in the first set, as Behar & Vliegen tried to stay with them. Johnson & Arends took the lead. The second set saw the Brit/Dutchman dominate and move into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

In the semi-final the Brit/Dutchman were against wildcard pair Pedro Martinez & Jaume Munar. The Spaniards obviously had the crowd behind them at the start of the match. Martinez & Munar stayed with Johnson & Arends at the start, before the Brit/Dutchman broke serve and took the lead. the second set was all one way traffic, as Johnson & Arends dominated and moved into the next round 6-3, 6-1.

The final saw Johnson & Arends against Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski. Having beaten the second seeds in straight sets at the quarter-final stage, the Brits had to battle through to make the final. The first set saw the Brit/Dutchman break serve and take the lead. However, in the second set Salisbury & Skupski fought back. The Brits forced a tiebreak, which they went on to dominate and level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw the Brit/Dutchman race out to a 4-1 lead. However, Salisbury & Skupski pulled back to within 3 points. Johnson & Arends secured the match point and lifted the title 6-3, 6-7(1), 10-6.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool were defeated by Hugo Nys & John Peers in the first round in Barcelona 7-5, 6-4.

Jamie Murray with Rajeev Ram were defeated by Rohan Bopanna & Ben Shelton in the first round in Munich 6-4, 6-3.

Eden Silva with Kimberley Zimmermann were defeated by Bernarda Pera & Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round in Rouen 6-2, 6-4.

Emily Appleton with Qianhui Tang were defeated by Quinn Gleason & Magali Kempen in the first round in Rouen 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.

Maia Lumsden with Nao Hibino were defeated by Nuria Brancaccio & Camilla Rosatello in the first round in Rouen 6-3, 2-6, 15-13.

Joshua Paris with Daniel Cukierman were defeated by Ji Sung Nam & Kaito Uesugi in the first round in Busan 7-6(2), 6-4.

Tom Hands with Anthony Genov were defeated by Clement Chidekh & Jody Maginley in the semi-final in Abidjan 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 12-10.

Mark Whitehouse with Tristan McCormick were defeated by Aidan Mayo & Kiranpal Pannu in the first round in San Luis Potosi 7-5, 7-6(4).

Marcus Willis with Ivan Liutarevich defeated Trey Hilderbrand & Alfredo Perez in the final in San Luis Potosi 6-3, 6-4.

David Stevenson with Johannes Ingildsen were defeated by Liam Draxl & Cleeve Harper in the semi-final in Tallahassee 6-3, 3-6, 12-10.

Alicia Barnett with Elixane Lechemia were defeated by Anastasia Detiuc & Patricia Maria Tig in the first round in Oeiras 6-4, 0-6, 10-6.

Holly Hutchinson & Katie Swan were defeated by Aliona Falei & Polina Iatcenko in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 6-2.

Ranah Stoiber with Kamilla Bartone were defeated by Aliona Falei & Polina Iatcenko in the semi-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-6(6), 6-3.

Victoria Allen & Amelia Rajecki were defeated by Katarina Kuzmova & Mariia Tkacheva in the semi-final in the Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 6-1.

Hamish Stewart with David Poljak were defeated by Ryan Peniston & Yaroslav Demin in the final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 3-6, 11-9.

Joe Cooper with Alex Martinez were defeated by Jiri Barnat & Filip Duda in the first round in Santa Margherita Di Pula 7-6(1), 6-2.

Soumeya Anane with Vlada Ekshibarova were defeated by Ella McDonald & Laura Hietranta in the quarter-final in Santa Margherita Di Pula 7-5, 7-5.

Jay Clarke with Daniil Golubev were defeated by Mario Mansilla Diez & Bruno Pujol Navarro in the semi-final in Santa Margherita Di Pula 6-3, 6-2.

Ella McDonald with Laura Hietranta defeated Anastasia Bertacchi & Viola Turini in the final in Santa Margherita Di Pula 6-2, 6-3.

Esther Adeshina with Abigail Rencheli were defeated by Vilma Krebs Hyllested & Johanne Svendsen in the first round in Monastir 6-4, 7-6(7).

Georgina Hays with Elissa Vanlangendonck were defeated by Zeel Desai & Anastasiia Gureva in the semi-final in Monastir 6-0, 7-5.

Madeline Brooks with Alina Charaeva were defeated by Marina Bassols Ribera & Andrea Lazaro Garcia in the semi-final in Madrid 7-5, 6-3.

Freya Christie with Petra Hule were defeated by Riya Bhatia & Sada Nahimana in the semi-final in Calvi 7-6(9), 6-4.

Tara Moore with Makenna Jones were defeated by Irina Bara & Elvina Kalieva in the first round in Zephyrhills4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
