Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Joe Salisbury made semi-final in ATP Barcelona

  • 3rd seeds didn’t drop a set en route
BARCELONA, SPAIN – Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram entered the ATP 500 event in Barcelona. The pair were the third seeds and made the semi-final.

Joe Salisbury and his regular doubles partner Rajeev Ram entered the ATP event in Barcelona and were the third seeds. In the first round the Brit/American were drawn against Cristian Garin & Guido Pella. In the first set Salisbury & Ram dominated the Chilean/Argentine and didn’t drop a game. The second set saw Garin & Pella try to fight back, however the third seeds managed to break serve and came through in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.

The quarter-final saw the third seeds against Jamie Murray & Ivan Dodig. The Brit/American managed to secure a break of serve in the first set against the Brit/Croatian to move into the lead. Murray & Dodig played better in the second set, however the third seeds still managed to break serve to progress to the semi-final in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

In the semi-final the third seeds were against Kevin Krawietz & Horia Tecau. The German/Romanian were outplayed by Salisbury & Ram in the first set. The Brit/American totally dominated the set as Krawietz & Tecau struggled to hold serve. In the second set the German/Romanian fought back and managed to level up the match. In the match tiebreak, both teams were fighting hard, unfortunately it was Krawietz & Tecau who edged ahead to seal the win 1-6, 6-3, 11-9.

Doubles Round Up

Dan Evans & Neal Skupski were defeated by Juan Sebastian Cabal & Robert Farah in the quarter-final in Barcelona 6-3, 6-4.

Dom Inglot & Luke Bambridge were defeated by Matteo Berrettini & Andrea Vavassori in the quarter-final in Rome 6-4, 7-6(3).

Naomi Broady with Elixane Lechemia were defeated by Lidziya Maroava & Andreea Mitu in the first round in Istanbul 6-0. 6-3.

Lloyd Glasspool with Harri Helivaara were defeated by Robert Galloway & Alex Lawson in the quarter-final in Rome 6-7(2), 6-3, 10-8.

Harry Wendelken with Karlis Ozolins were defeated by Anis Ghorbel & Oscar Jose Gutierrez in the first round in Monastir 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-8.

Emilie Lindh with Aline Thommen were defeated by Olivia Gram & Amy Zhu in the first round in Monastir 6-3, 7-6(6).

Emily Webley-Smith with Sofia Shapatava were defeated by Lea Boskovic & Seone Mendez in the first round in Oeiras 6-1, 6-2.

Sashi Kempster with Matilde Jorge were defeated by Natela Dzalamidze & Sofya Lansere in the quarter-final in Oeiras 6-1, 6-4.

Next week Brits play in Munich, Estoril, Madrid, Rome, Spain, Egypt, Tunisia, USA, Turkey & Loughborough.
