Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Joe Salisbury claims mixed doubles at Roland Garros

  • Joe Salisbury & Desirae Krawczyk claimed the mixed doubles at Roland Garros
  • The Brit/American pair dropped only one set en route
PARIS, FRANCE – Joe Salisbury & Desirae Krawczyk teamed up for the mixed doubles at Roland Garros, the unseeded pair took the title.

Joe Salisbury teamed up with Desirae Krawczyk and entered the mixed doubles event in Roland Garros. The Brit/American were unseeded and drew fourth seeds Bruno Soares & Xu Yifan in the first round. Salisbury &  Krawczyk broke the Brazilian/Chinese pair in the first set to take the lead. In the second set the Brit/American took the lead by breaking the seeds and moved into the next round 6-4, 6-3.

In the quarter-final Salisbury & Krawczyk  were up against Robert Farah & Darija Jurak. The Columbian/Croat pair were dominated by the Brit/American in the first set. The second set was much closer though, as Farah & Jurak stayed toe to toe with Salisbury & Krawczyk forcing a tiebreak. However, the breaker was one way traffic as the Brit/American stormed into the semi-final 6-2, 7-6(3).

The semi-final saw the Brit/American against Juan Sebastián Cabal & Giuliana Olmos. The Columbian/Mexican pair conceded without a ball being hit, handing Salisbury & Krawczyk a walkover into the final 0-0 (RET).

In the final Salisbury & Krawczyk were against Aslan Karatsev & Elena Vesnina. The Brit/American were outplayed in the first set as the Russian pair dominated. However, Salisbury & Krawczyk regrouped and broke serve to level up the match. In the final match tiebreak the Brit/American took the lead and claimed the title 2-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski were defeated by Juan Sebastián Cabal & Robert Farah in the first round in the French Open 6-4, 6-4.

Luke Bambridge & Dom Inglot were defeated by Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares in the first round in the French Open 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-3.

Cameron Norrie & Jonny O’Mara were defeated by Pierre-Hugues Herbert & Nicolas Mahut in the first round in the French Open 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Joe Salisbury with Rajeev Ram were defeated by Hugo Nys & Tim Putz in the second round in the French Open 6-4, 6-4.

Heather Watson with Anna Blinkova were defeated by Sharon Fichman & Giuliana Olmos in the first round in the French Open 6-3, 6-2.

Jamie Murray with Bethanie Mattek-Sands were defeated by Juan Sebastián Cabal & Giuliana Olmos in the first round in the French Open 7-6(4), 6-7(3), 10-6.

Neal Skupski with Alexa Guarachi were defeated by Wesley Koolhof & Demi Schuurs in the quarter-final in the French Open 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Jonny O’Mara & Luke Bambridge were defeated by Antoine Hoang & Ramkumar Ramanathan in the first round in Nottingham 7-6(3), 3-6, 10-7.

Liam Broady & Ryan Peniston were defeated by Artem Sitak & Marc Polmans in the first round in Nottingham 6-2, 7-6(2).

Stuart Parker with Alastair Gray were defeated by Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliovaara in the first round in Nottingham 6-2, 6-3.

Jay Clarke with Thanasi Kokkinakis were defeated by Ken Skupski & Matt Reid in the quarter-final in Nottingham 2-6, 7-6(3), 11-9.

Lloyd Glasspool with Harri Haliovaara were defeated by Matthew Ebden & John-Patrick Smith in the quarter-final in Nottingham 6-4, 6-2.

Toby Martin with Marko Tepavac were defeated by Max Houkes & Sidane Pontjodikromo in the first round in Skopje 6-3. 3-1 (RET).

David Fox with Murphy Cassone were defeated by Tristan Schoolkate & Dane Sweeny in the first round in Wichita 6-4, 6-4.

Finn Bass & Charles Broom were defeated by Alexander Brown & Ezekiel Clark in the quarter-final in Wichita 6-2, 7-6(5).
