- Defeated second seeds en route
VIENNA, AUSTRIA – Jamie Murray & Neal Skupski entered the ATP 500 event and were unseeded. The Brits made it all the way to the final, before defeat to the third seeds.
Jamie Murray & Neal Skupski entered the ATP 500 event in Vienna. The Brits were not seeded. In the first round Murray & Skupski were drawn against Dennis Novak & Dominic Thiem. The Austrians stayed toe to toe in the first set, until finally the Brits secured the break of serve. The second set was similar vein, but this time a tiebreak ensued. Novak & Thiem totally dominated the breaker and levelled the match. The match tiebreak saw the Brits edge ahead, with the Austrians unable to get back into the match. Murray & Skupski moved to the next round 7-5, 6-7(1), 10-5.
In the quarter-final Murray & Skupski were drawn against the second seeds Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram. The Brit/American had battled through the first round in a tight match, which took its toll. Salisbury and Ram withdrew from the event, handing the Brits a walkover. Murray & Skupski moved into the semi-final 0-0 (RET).
The semi-final saw the Brits against Robert Farah & Fabrice Martin. In the first set Murray & Skupski secured the vital break of serve and took the lead. Farah & Martin tried to fight back in the second, but it was the Brits who once again secured the break of serve and took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
In the final Murray & Skupski were against the third seeds Lukasz Kubot & Marcelo Melo. The Polish/Brazilian pairing pushed the first set to a tiebreak, which they claimed. In the second set, Kubot & Melo secured the break of serve against the Brits and held on to take the title 7-6(5), 7-5.

Dan Evans with Oliver Marach were defeated by Jurgen Melzer & Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the first round in Vienna 6-2, 7-5.
Dom Inglot with Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi were defeated by Marcus Daniell & Philipp Oswald in the first round in Nur-Sultan 6-4, 6-1.
Luke Bambridge with Divij Sharan were defeated by Ben McLachlan & Franko Skugor in the quarter-final in Nur-Sultan 7-5, 4-6, 12-10.
Lloyd Glasspool with Alex Lawson were defeated by Marc-Andrea Huesler & Kamil Majchrzack in the final in Hamburg 6-3, 1-6, 20-18.
Olivia Nicholls with Despina Papamichail were defeated by Bibiane Schoofs & Rosalie Van Der Hoek in the quarter-final in Istanbul 6-3, 7-6(5).
Maia Lumsden with Melis Sezer were defeated by Jacqueline Cristian & Elena Ruse in the final in Istanbul 6-3, 6-4.
Naomi Broady with Kristie Ahn were defeated by Kateryna Bondarenko & Olga Govortsova in the quarter-final in Tyer 6-1, 6-1.
Emilie Lindh with Ahsmitha Easwaramurthi were defeated by Allina Sillch & Marila Tkacheva in the first round in Sharm El Sheikh 6-7(5), 6-1, 10-8.
Anna Popescu with Elysia Bolton were defeated by Melania Delai & Dalila Spiteri in the quarter-final in Heraklion 6-1. 6-0.
Emily Appleton & Ali Collins were defeated by Alina Charaeva & Oksana Selekhmeteva in the quarter-final in Platja D’Aro 7-5, 6-2.
Katy Dunne with Ingrid Gammara Martins were defeated by Weronika Baszak & Alina Shcherbinina in the first round in Lousada 6-2, 7-6(9).
Luke Johnson with Dan Added were defeated by Evan Furness & Clement Tabur in the quarter-final in Heraklion 6-4(RET).
Patrick Foley with Charles Minc were defeated by Pedro Cachin & Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo in the first round in Vale do Lobo 6-2, 6-4.
Max Andrews with David Volfson were defeated by Vikto Durasovic & Michael Geerts in the first round in Vale do Lobo 6-3. 6-2.
