SHARM-EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT – Matthew Howse & Joel Pierleoni made the final in Egypt. The Brits were unseeded and took out the second seeds en route.
Matthew Howse & Joel Pierleoni entered the ITF event in Egypt and were unseeded. In the first round the Brits were against the second seeds Alexander Cozbinov & Daniil Golubev. The Brits dominated the first set, as the seeds were unable to hold serve. Howse & Pierleoni then broke the second seeds in the next set to move into the next round in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
In the quarter-final the Brits were against unseeded pair of Michael Shaw & Koray Kirci. The Brit/Turk found the Brits too strong, as they struggled to get into the match. However, the second set saw Shaw & Kirci stay with Howse & Pierleoni to force a breaker. In the tiebreak the Brits dominated to secure the win and move into the semi-final 6-1, 7-6(2).
The semi-final saw the Brits against Michael Bassem Sobhy & Akram El Sallaly. The Egyptians tried hard in the first set, but saw Howse & Pierleoni break serve to take the lead. The second set was much closer, as the Brits and Egyptians battled. Just as it looked like a tiebreak was on the cards, the Brits got the break of serve to book a spot in the final 6-3, 7-5.
In the final the Brits were against the top seeds Jiri Barnat & Matej Vocel. The Czech pair stayed with the Brits and forced a tiebreak. Barnat & Vocel dominated the tiebreak and took the lead. The second set saw Barnat & Vocel break serve of the Brits and take the match 7-6(0), 6-4.
