In Sofia ATP 250 Julian Cash teamed up with Nikola Mektic and the pair were the third seeds. The Brit/Croatian were against Nikola Cacic & Philipp Oswald in the first round. The Serbian/Austrian started well and broke the serve of the seeds to take the lead. However, Cash & Mektic re-grouped in the second set. Dominating from the outset the Brit/Croatian levelled up the match. In the match tiebreak, both teams stayed close before the seeds eventually edged ahead and into the next round 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.

In the quarter-final the seeds were against Evan King & Reese Stalder. The Americans tried to stay with the Brit/Croatian in the first set. However, Cash & Mektic broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same as the Americans couldn’t keep pace with the seeds who moved into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

The semi-final saw the Brit/Croatian against Ariel Behar & Adam Pavlasek. The Uruguayan/Czech stayed close to the seeds in the first set. It looked to be heading to a tiebreak, however, Cash & Mektic secured the vital break of serve right at the end of the set and took the lead. The second set saw both sides fighting hard. Eventually, though, it was the Brit/Croatian who broke through and into the final in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.

In the final the seeds were against unseeded pair Gonzalo Escobar & Aleksandr Nedovyesov. The first set saw the unseeded pair get off to the better start and break the serve of the Brit/Croatian to take the lead. The second set saw the seeds re-group and fight back to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak Escobar & Nedovyesov edged through and lifted the trophy 6-3, 3-6, 13-11.

Meanwhile in Calgary Sarah Beth Grey & Eden Silva entered the ITF event and were the third seeds. The Brits were Isabelle Boulais & Layne Sleeth in the first round. The Canadians managed to stay with the Brits in the first set, before Grey & Silva secured the break of serve to take the lead. This seemed to dent the confidence of Boulais & Sleeth as the Brits dominated the next set and eased into the next round 6-3, 6-1.

The quarter-final saw the Brits against another Canadian pair Teah Chavez & Alexia Jacobs. The seeds secured the break of serve in the first set to take the lead. However, the second set saw the Canadians mount a fight back and dominated to level up the match. In the final match tiebreak the Brits edged through and took the win 6-4, 2-6 10-7.

In the semi-final the seeds were against Haley Giavara & Kira Pavlova. The first set was dominated by the Brits who didn’t drop a game and strolled into the lead. The second set was much closer as Giavara & Pavlova played better and managed to hold serve. However, Grey & Silva secured the break of serve and moved into the final in straight sets 6-0, 6-4.

The final saw the Brits against Hanna Chang & Katarina Jokic. The American/Serbian pair stayed with the seeds at the start of the first set, before Grey & Silva broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same as the Brits again broke serve and secured the title in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
