Tennis | Doubles Round Up | Glasspool runner up in ATP Stockholm

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliovaara entered the ATP 250 event and were the third seeds. The Brit/Fin made the final before defeat by the top seeds.

Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliovaara were the third seeds in Stockholm. The Brit/Fin drew Swedish wildcard pair Simon Freund & Leo Borg in the first round. Glasspool & Heliovaara took the game to the unseeded pair. The Brit/Fin secured a break of serve in the first set to take the lead. Freund & Borg found the third seeds too good in the second set, as Glasspool & Heliovaara dominated and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

In the quarter-final the third seeds were against Roman Jebavy & Adam Pavlasek. The Czech pair stayed close to the Brit/Fin in the first set, before Glasspool & Heliovaara secured the break of serve to move into the lead. The second set was a little closer. Jebavy & Pavlasek tried to stay with the seeds, ultimately though, the Brit/Fin secured the break of serve and moved into the next round 6-3, 6-4.

The semi-final saw Glasspool & Heliovaara against Albano Olivetti & Maxime Cressy. The French/American pair went toe to toe with the third seeds, and looked to be forcing a tiebreak. However, the Brit/Fin managed to secure the break of serve right at the end first set to take the lead. The second set was a little easier for the seeds as they broke early and took the match in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.

In the final Glasspool & Heliovaara were against the top seeds Jean-Julien Rojer & Marcelo Arevalo-Gonzalez. The top seeds. The Brit/Fin put up a fight, but Rojer & Arevalo-Gonzalez were just too good. The top seeds managed to secure the vital break of serve in each set to lift the title in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Doubles Round Up

Cameron Norrie with Tommy Paul were defeated by Santiago Gonzalez & Andres Molteni in the quarter-final in Stockholm 0-0 (RET).

Dan Evans & Jonny O’Mara were defeated by Rohan Bopanna & Matwe Middelkoop in the quarter-final in Antwerp 6-4, 6-1.

Billy Harris with Kelsey Stevenson were defeated by Tim Sandkaulen & Henri Squire in the first round in Hamburg 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Harriet Dart with Dalma Galfi were defeated by Emily Webley-Smith & Elixane Lechemia in the first round in Rouen 0-0 (RET).

Emily Webley-Smith with Elixane Lechemia were defeated by Renata Voracova & Jessika Ponchet in the quarter-final in Rouen 7-5, 6-1.

Matthis Ross with Giulio Perego were defeated by Abraham Asaba & Aidan Mayo in the first round in Harlingen 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Rahul Dhokia & Toby Samuel were defeated by Abraham Asaba & Adian Mayo in the quarter-final in Harlingen 0-0(RET).

Lauryn John-Baptiste with Ilinca Dalina Amariei defeated Giorgia Pinto & Gaia Squarcialupi in the final in Heraklion 6-1, 6-1.

Sarah Beth Grey with Katherine Sebov were defeated by Catherine Harrison & Yanina Wickmayer in the quarter-final in Saguenay 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.

Emma Cohen & Andra Sutherland were defeated by Laura Boehner & Sandra Samir in the first round in Loule 6-1, 6-1.

Francesca Davis with Georgia Kalamaris were defeated by Jacqueline Cabaj Awad & Adrienn Nagy in the first round in Loule 6-3, 6-3.

Eleanor Baglow with Marie Mettraux were defeated by Anastasia Safta & Anca Alexia Todoni in the first round in Antalya 6-7(3), 6-2, 10-7.
