OBIDOS, PORTUGAL – Emily Webley-Smith & Sofia Shapatava joined forces to play the ITF event in Portugal. The third seeds were the only seeds left after the quarter-final.

Emily Webley-Smith & Sofia Shapatava teamed up for the ITF event in Obidos Portugal. In the first round the Brit/Georgian drew Mariami Akhalaia & Ines Oliveira. The Moldovan/Portuguese pair were no match for the Brit/Georgina who completely dominated both sets. Moving into the quarter-finals for the loss of only two games 6-1, 6-1.

In the quarter-final Webley-Smith & Shapatava were against Cristina Bucșa & Nuria Parrizas-Diaz. The Spanish pair found themselves dominated in the first set, only managing to win one game. The second set saw the Spaniards playing better, however, the Brit/Georgian obtained the vital break of serve to take the match 6-1, 6-4.

The semi-final saw the third seeds against Gergana Topalova & Daniela Vismane. The Bulgarian/Latvian fought well in the first set, before Webley-Smith & Shapatava broke serve and took the set. The second set was dominated by the seeds who lost only one more game before heading to the final 6-3, 6-1.

In the final the seeds were up against Mariam Bolkvadze & Nastja Kolar. The Georgian/Slovenian were unable to keep with Webley-Smith & Shapatava in the first set, as the seeded pair lost only one game. However, in the second set Bolkvadze & Kolar fought back breaking the seeds and levelling up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak the seeds edged the victory to lift the title 6-1, 2-6, 11-9.

Jonathan Binding with Francisco Dias were defeated by Patrick Foley & James Mackinlay in the first round in Sunderland 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-2.
