Brits were second seeds
HERAKLION, GREECE – Charles Broom & Henry Patten entered the ITF event and were second seeds. The Brits only dropped one set en route to the title.
Charles Broom & Henry Patten entered the ITF event in Heraklion and were the second seeds. Their first round opponents were Italians Giacomo Gobbi & Alessandro Procopio. The Brits were just too strong for the Italians who were unable to stop Broom & Patten from dominating. The Brits moved into the next round 6-2, 6-1.
The quarter-final saw Broom & Patten against Eduardo Cohen & Roi Ginat. The Israelis were dominated by the Brits who eased through barely breaking a sweat. The second seeds only lost one game to move into the semi-final in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
In the semi-final the Brits were against Tomas Lanik & Pijus Vaitiekunas. The Slovak/Lithuanian pair kept close to the Brits. However the seeds were able to secure the break of serve needed to move through to the final in straight sets. 6-4, 6-4.
The final saw the Brits against the top seeds Sidane Pontjodikromo & Kai Wehnelt. The Dutch/German pair manged to break the serve of Broom & Patten to take the lead. The Brits however, regrouped in the second set and dominated once again to level the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw the second seeds edge through to take the title 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.
Doubles Round Up
Sean Hodkin & Harry Wendelken were defeated by Sidane Pontjodikromo & Kai Wehnelt in the semi-final in Heraklion 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.
Grazilla Barrett with Diane Marie Ilie were defeated by Elani Christofi & Michaela Laki in the first round in Heraklion 6-0, 6-1.
Emilie Lindh with Oana Gavrilla were defeated by Bianca Elena Barbulescu & Risa Ushjima in the quarter-final in Heraklion 0-0 (RET).
Lauryn John-Baptiste with Nicole Fossa Huergo defeated Valerila Ollanovskala & Nina Olyanovskaya in the final in Heraklion 7-5, 6-4.
Giles Hussey with Matic Spec were defeated by Liam Draxl & Cleeve Harper in the quarter-final in Cancun 6-3, 6-3.
Amelia Bissett with Maelys Bougrat were defeated by Jessica Hinojosa Gomez & Maria Fernanda Navarro in the quarter-final in Cancun 6-2, 6-2.
Jonathan Gray with Nathan Seateun were defeated by Filippo Speziail & Edoardo Zanada in the first round in Cairo 7-5, 6-4.
Felix Gill with Facundo Yunis were defeated by Ho Ray & Niklas Schell in the quarter-final in Cairo 7-6(5), 6-2.
Billy Harris with Koray Kirci were defeated by Grigoriy Lomakin & Oleg Prihodko in the semi-final in Antalya 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Louis Allen with Razvan Balant were defeated by Johannes Ingilsden & Alfredo Perez in the first round in Santo Domingo 6-1, 6-4.
Mattias Southcombe with Mu Tao were defeated by Viktor Jovic & Aziz Ouakaa in the first round in Monastir 7-5, 6-4.
Stuart Parker with Arthur Bouquier were defeated by Viktor Jovic & Aziz Ouakaa in the final in Monastir 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
Alicia Barnett & Olivia Nicholls were defeated by Eudice Chong & Moyuka Uchijama in the final in Selva Gardena 6-2, 6-1.
Emily Webley-Smith with Sofia Shapatava were defeated by Nikola Bartunkova & Barbora Palicova in the first round in Jablonec Nad Nisou 6-1, 6-4/
