SARASOTA, USA – Julian Cash & Henry Patten entered the Challenger event and were the top seeds. The Brits didn’t drop a set en route to the title.

ATP/WTA

At the Monte-Carlo Masters Neal Skupski & Welsey Koolhof were the top seeds. The Brit/Dutch pair had a bye in the first round. Their second round match was against Karen Khachanov & Andrey Rublev. The top seeds were pushed hard in the first set and taken to a tiebreak. Khachanov & Rublev edged through the breaker and took the lead. The second set saw Supski & Koolhof break early to level up the match. The match tiebreak saw both pairs fight to move on but it was the top seeds who edged through into the next round 6-7(5), 6-3, 14-12.

In the quarter-final the top seeds were against Fabrice Martin & Andreas Mies. Skupski & Koolhof broke at the end of the first set and took the lead. However, the Frenchman/German pair regrouped and broke early in the second set to level up the match. The match tiebreak was relatively close, but Martin & Mies secured the break needed to move into the next round 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.

Lloyd Glasspool & Harri Heliovaara were the sixth seeds and were against Nicolas Mahut & Stan Wawrinka in the first round. The seeds broke early in the first set and held on to take the lead. The second set was close, eventually, though, Glasspool & Heliovaara broke and moved into the next round 6-3, 6-4.

The second round saw the seeds against Maximo Gonzalez & Andreas Molteni. The Argentines stayed toe to toe with Glasspool & Heliovaara and broke serve right at the end of the first set to take the lead. The second set saw the seeds secure a break of serve and level up the match. In the match tiebreak, it was the sixth seeds who edged through to book a spot in the next round 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.

In the quarter-final Glasspool & Heliovaara were against Romain Arneodo & Tristan-Samuel Wiessborn. The unseeded pair dominated the first set and took the lead. The second set was much closer as the sixth seeds fought to get back into the match. However, when the match went to a tiebreak it was Arneodo & Wiessborn broke early and took the win 6-2, 7-6(3).

Challenger & ITF

Julian Cash & Henry Patten entered the Sarasota Challenger and were the top seeds. In the first round the Brits were against Evan King & Reese Stadler. The top seeds broke early in the first set and took the lead. The second set was much closer, and looked to be heading to a tiebreak. However, Cash & Patten broke right at the end of the set to take the match 6-3, 7-5.

The quarter-final was against Jonathan Eysseric & David Pel. The Brits dominated the first set and took the lead. The second set saw Eysseric & Pel try to fight back, however, Cash & Patten broke serve and claimed the match in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

In the semi-final the Brits were against Dustin Brown & Tim Sandkaulen. The Jamaican/German pair tried to stay with Cash & Patten at first, but the top seeds broke and took the lead. The second set was much closer, as Brown & Sandkaulen forced a tiebreak. However, the top seeds secured the win and moved into the final 6-3, 7-6.

The final saw Cash & Patten against Guillermo Duran & Guido Andreozzi. The Argentines stayed with the Brits in the first set, forcing a tiebreak. However, the top seeds managed to claim the breaker and take the lead. The second set saw the Argentines stay close, until Cash & Patten broke serve and sealed the win 7-6, 6-4.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Dan Evans with Francisco Cerundolo were defeated by Fabrice Martin & Andreas Mies in the first round in Monte-Carlo 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.

Jamie Murray with Michael Venus were defeated by Karen Khachanov & Andrey Rublev in the first round in Monte-Carlo 7-5, 6-4.

Cameron Norrie with Ben Shelton were defeated by Kevin Krawietz & Tim Puetz in the first round in Monte-Carlo 6-2, 6-3.

Joe Salisbury with Rajeev Ram were defeated by Romain Arneodo & Tristan-Samuel Wiessborn in the second round in Monte-Carlo 6-2, 6-3.

Aidan McHugh with Yunchaokete Bu were defeated by Federico Zeballos & Boris Arias in the first round in Leon 7-6, 6-3.

Joshua Paris with Antoine Bellier were defeated by Antoine Escoffier & Aziz Dougaz in the quarter-final in Leon 6-3,6-1.

Marcus Willis & Scott Duncan were defeated by Kalin Ivanovski & Luka Mikrut in the first round in Split 6-4, 6-3.

Emilie Lindh with Jessica Failla were defeated by Aliona Falei & Darya Shauha in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-4, 6-4.

Alastair Gray with Daniel Cukierman were defeated by Aliaksandr Liaonenka & Alexander Zgirovsky in the quarter-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 0-0 (RET).

Freya Christie & Ali Collins were defeated by Irene Burillo Escorihuela & Andrea Lazaro Garcia in the quarter-final in Zaragoza 6-3, 6-2.

Eden Silva with Asia Muhammad were defeated by Diane Perry & Arantxa Rus in the final in Zaragoza 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.

Emily Webley-Smith with Mana Ayukawa were defeated by Andreea Mitu & Nadia Podoroska in the quarter-final in Chiasso 6-2, 6-3.

Emily Appleton with Julia Lohoff defeated Andreea Mitu & Nadia Podoroska in the final in Chiasso 6-1, 6-2.

Tiffany William with Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi were defeated by Ksenia Laskutova & Fanny Ostlund in the quarter-final in Bujumbura 6-4, 6-2.

Yuriko Lily Miyazaki with Prarthana G Thombare were defeated by Quinn Gleason & Anna Rogers in the first round in Boca Raton 6-4, 6-4.

Blu Baker with Sekou Bangoura defeated Jared Thompkins & Leonardo Vega in the final in Sunrise 6-1, 6-3.
