CLUJ-NAPOCA, ROMANIA – Jodie Burrage & Jill Teichmann claimed the WTA 250 title. The Brit/Swiss were unseeded and took out the top seeds en route to the title.
Jodie Burrage teamed up with Swiss Jill Teichmann and were unseeded. In the first round the Brit/Swiss were against Vivian Heisen & Ankita Raina. The German/Indian pair went toe to toe with Burrage & Teichmann in the first set, forcing a tiebreak. In the breaker, the Brit/Swiss broke early and took the set and the lead. The second set saw Heisen & Raina fight back, breaking the serve of Burrage & Teichmann to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak it was the Brit/Swiss that edged through and moved into the next round 7-6(4), 4-6, 11-9.
In the quarter-final Burrage & Teichmann were against the top seeds Elena-Gabriela Ruse & Alycia Parks. The seeds stayed close at the start before the Brit/Swiss broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same. Ruse & Parks were unable to get anything on the serve of Burrage & Teichmann, who eased through into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
The semi-final saw the Brit/Swiss against Irina Khromacheva & Dalila Jakupovic. Burrage & Teichmann started well and broke serve to take the lead. The second set was much closer as Khromacheva & Jakupovic went toe to toe with the Brit/Swiss. It looked like the set would go to a tiebreak. However Khromacheva & Jakupovic broke right at the end to level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw Burrage & Teichmann stroll through and book a spot in the final 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.
In the final Burrage & Teichmann were against Leolia Jeanjean & Valeriya Strakhova. The first set was dominated by the Brit/Swiss and they were little troubled by the opponents.
