CALVI, CORSICA, FRANCE – Naiktha Bains & Maia Lumsden entered the ITF event and were the second seeds. The Brits claimed the title dropping only one set.

Naiktha Bains & Maia Lumsden entered the ITF event and were the second seeds. As a result the Brits had a bye in the first round. In the quarter-final the Brits were against Flavie Brugnone & Lola Marandel. The French pair stayed with the seeds at the start of the set, before Bains & Lumsden broke to take the lead. The second set saw the Brits dominate and move into the next round 6-4, 6-2.

The semi-final saw the Brits against fourth seeds Eudice Chong & Anastasia Tikhonova. The fourth seeds stayed close in the first set. Evenutally, though, Bains & Lumsden broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same, with the Brits breaking and sealing the win 6-4, 6-4.

In the final Bains & Lumsden were against the top seeds Estelle Cascino & Ankita Raina. The top seeds stayed close, before the Brits broke serve for the lead. The second set saw Cascino & Raina re-group and break the Brits to level up the match. The final match tiebreak, was close at the start. Eventually, the Brits broke through and lifted the title 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

 

 

Doubles Round Up

Emily Webley-Smith with Mana Ayukawa were defeated by Eudice Chong & Anastasia Tikhonova in the quarter-final in Calvi 6-4, 6-2.

Luke Johnson with Sam Verbeek were defeated by Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela & Robert Galloway in the first round in Ostrava 6-3, 6-4.

Ryan Peniston with Geoffrey Blancaneaux were defeated by Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela & Robert Galloway in the semi-final in Ostrava 6-4, 6-1.

Charles Broom with Giovanni Oradini were defeated by Dimitris Sakellaridis & Stefanos Sakellaridis in the first round in Santa Margherita di Pula 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-4.

Charlotte Clarke with Daniela Tara Kotara were defeated by Abigail Amos & Arabella Koller in the first round in Telde 6-4, 6-2.

Abigail Amos with Arabella Koller were defeated by Kaylah McPhee & Marie Mattraux in the semi-final in Telde 6-4, 6-3.

Ying Hou with Areg Stepanian were defeated by Ivan Perez Martin & Julio Cesar Porras in the first round in Sanxenxo 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.

John Horoz Garner with Miguel Angel Cabrera were defeated by Jake Bhangdia & Thomas Brown in the first round in Vero Beach 6-0, 6-2.

Yuriko Lily Miyazaki with Hiroko Kuwata were defeated by Jessy Rompies & Prarthana G. Thombare in the quarter-final in Charlottesville 6-4, 7-5.

Felix Mischker with Simon Freund were defeated by Thijmen Loof & Marlon Vankan in the quarter-final in Antalya 6-7(5), 6-1, 10-6.

Matilda Mutavdzic with Lara Salden were defeated by Asylzhan Arystanbekova & Dana Baidaulet in the quarter-final in Antalya 3-4 (RET).

Next Week Brits play in Madrid, Aix-en-Provence, Prague, Nottingham, Spain, Georgia, Tunisia, St Malo, Reus, USA, Germany, Japan, Czech Republic & Cyprus.
